Fights That Should've Happened But Didn't (and who would've won them)

This is a thread to ponder the best fights that could've happened, but didn't. Great fighters fighting at the same time and at around the same weight, but for one reason or another didn't happen.

    Here's some I thought of:

Sugar Ray Leonard v Aaron Pryor, welterweight early 80s
(I'd take SRL by close points decision)

Bernard Hopkins v James Toney, middleweight early-mid 90s
(too close to call. Probably at that stage in their careers, Toney by decision)

Felix Trinidad v Shane Mosley, turn of the century
(Mosley by decision. DLH outboxed Tito, I think Mosley could've done so too, he was too tough to get stopped and he would've outworked Trinidad)

Juan Manuel Marquez v Erik Morales, featherweight early 2000s
(Another one which would've been so so close. At that stage in their careers, probably Morales by decision)

Lennox Lewis v Riddick Bowe, heavyweight early-mid 1990s
    (Lewis by KO)

Larry Holmes v George Foreman, heavyweight 1980s
(If George has stayed in the game, he would've been active during Holmes's reign. I think Foreman could've outpointed Holmes or won by late stoppage)

Thoughts on my choices or any other fights that should've happened but didn't??

As far as Pryor vs Leonard is concerned, I think Leonard would've taken Pryor by a mid-round stoppage or ko, too good overall for Aaron at that point.

    I awlays wanted to see:

Chandler-Pintor (I'll take Chandler by decision)
    Sanchez-Pedroza (Sanchez by decision)
Hagler-Benitez (Hagler by stoppage, but I think Benitez could've made Hagler look bad for a little while).
Hearns - Pryor (Hearns by stoppage, too big, but this could've been Hagler/Hearns before Hagler/Hearns)

Arguello-Duran: Tough call, Could be simular to Arguello-Pryor. Maybe Duran taking the 15 round Decision.
Palomino-Cuevas: very close, Cuevas 15 Split Decision.
Saad Mohammad-Mustafa Muhammed: Eddie is a little more polished & should survive late flurry to get the nod.
Hagler-Spinks: Hagler to an early lead, but Spinks' boxing ability wins out for a 15 dec.
Chavez-Whitaker: A couple of years earlier: Maybe fight would have been alot closer than actual fight. & could possibly really have been a draw. or either way decision.

Jones-Eubank (could have been a tricky one for RJJ, but I see him walking off with a UD)

Dokes-Page: Dokes comes out leading early, but Page gets into his rhythmn and wins a UD over 12.
Curry-Mugabi-Curry starts out boxing Mugabi, and is leading when Mugabi gets him around the eighth round.
Qawi-Mustafa Muhammad-Qawi outhustles Mustafa to win a UD over 15.

I'm sure he means Holmes outpointing Foreman...

Personally I believe that Holmes would have beaten Foreman at any stage of thier careers where a potential match up could have taken place.

Foreman's only hope would be to catch him with a big punch like Shavers did & finish the job. Or else Holmes is too slick for George. Easy Decision.

    Hagler-leonard 1983

    Leonard-Nunn/Jackson 1989

In each case, Leonard gets his big head removed en route to the canvas.

    :rofl

No point in Leonard fighting at all during 1989. Shot fighter.

I would favor Hagler to stop Leonard in 1983.

I actually agree with all of your winners... well, Holmes v Foreman would likely end in a TKO for Foreman or a pts win for Holmes, dont think Foreman could outbox Holmes enough to get a pts win but weirder things have happened.

I think Lewis beats Bowe on pts (stamina would be the key)

Morales beats Marquez on pts (EMs ability to switch from box to brawl & back again & fight & several different paces comfortably + being the more powerfull puncher earns him a hard fought decision, this Morales was the best of his weight class... numero uno)

Moseley`s chin holds up to take a pts win over Tito in a better than expected war (SSM too quick at that stage)

Toney beats Hop on pts at that stage (Toney was always well rounded & good, Hop got better with age but just falls short at this time period)

Leonard by TKO or wide UD vs Pryor (Aaron would find out he is in way over his head here & I think gets outboxed & takes the harder shots throughout before his corner wave the white flag in between rds 13 & 14)

Forgot to put my own choices (Leonard Pryor was gonna be my 1st but pacfan84 beat me to it)

Sanchez v Arguello - 1982 (Ive only seen Sal vs Gomez & Nelson in full fights so cant call this one but Ive heard many fans & experts say this was impossible to call & defo was 1 of the best fights never to have happened, a real shame for boxing fans everywhere)

Morales v Hamed - 2001 (This was in the making until dickhead Naz called out Barrera instead, this would have been a bloodbath with EMs boxing long range skills earning him a UD, they would have traded punches unlike MAB v Naz, EM wins by a similar margin as did MAB but takes more punches & gives more aswell, great great fight, should`ve happened)

Leonard v Hagler - 1982 (with SRL getting the better of the outside boxing match thru lateral movement & handspeed in the 1st 6 rds then Hagler pressing SRL & making him fight inside for most of the next rds, its just about even going into rd 15 were SRLs footwork & superfast combinations leave Hagler with work to do in the last minute, he eventually makes SRL fight but Ray stays right there with him trading until the final bell..... Decision - Leonard is the new MWT champ by majority decision, Hagler complains but most agree Leonard deserved it while some dispute it to this day.)
