What fights showed how tough a fighter was? A Thrilla in Maniilla A Hagler vs Hearns, A Duran vs Barkley, or Gatti vs Ward. Fights to point to, that showed a fighters toughness?

Smokin' Joe really showed his ability to overcome adversity against Ringo and showed the world that he was truly a top contender when he beat Jerry Boy.

i think its the one sided losses that show how tough a fighter is.

tyson vs lewis: tyson was getting uppercuted by these heavy punches from lewis, he just had no answer and bravely chose to eat those punches as long as he could.

barkley vs toney: toney absolutely shredded the oncoming barkley with hundreds of counter punches through out the entire fight. it was no secret that barkley wanted that one punch that could change the fight and bravely took a battering while giving little or no ground for as long and eddie let him. barkley is one of the bravest fighters i have ever seen.

(maybe not so much a one sided loss) carlos palomino vs john stracy: palomino such a well rounded fighter, stracy showed extreme toughness from taking a battering and getting up from severe body punches. palomino in turn showed courage in being out fought but going the distance with duran.

Riddick Bowe vs Andrew Golota II

The fight would have been stopped had Futch been in Bowe's corner that night.

Barkley and Hagler against Tommy Hearns. And Hearns ability to bounce back after each devastating loss. I always knew Hearns was a great fighter and person, but after he lost to Hagler and Barkley and kept coming back against tough competition and never giving up, I saw how strong a fighter he was mentally. Hagler took great punches against Hearns, but in a way those punches had a bigger affect on Hagler mentally than the loss to Hagler had on Hearns. Hagler seemed to be the guy who was never the same after the Hearns fight.

what was amazing was that he had the ability to know he could fight another way and fight his fight and win easily. Most fighters lose and they do not have that plan B. Most guys would lose to Duran and keep losing, but Ray could box, and if you see the second fight he moves from the get go and Duran could not do anything. Ray was amazing.
