Hahaha! I think you may have come up with a solution that creates consistency and even more entertainment for the fans! It’s certainly not much more of a ridiculous idea than some of the celebrity matchups that have happened in recent years.

So he was not technically knocked out, but the ruling should have been that he was technically knocked out?

Can't believe Douglas is mentioned here. Inconceivable.

Haha, clever boy! Pay that one. Cunning linguist.

My answer to your question is: “Well, technically, yes and no.”

Well, it must be your lucky day - you should go out and buy yourself a lottery ticket.

I've never known Gibbs to be biased ,in his autobiography he said," I've never been afraid of a little blood",I havent seen either fight but the report of the Wepner bout states one side of his face was covered in blood, which would of course impede his vision.
"Bugner came out and worked confidently behind the jab in the opening round as Wepner came forward and threw mostly wide punches. By the end of the round, the left side of Wepner's face had already begun to show signs of wear from Bugner's jab. In Round 2, Bugner continued to pump his jab into Wepner's face with little defensive resistance. Toward the end of the round he landed a solid combination to the body. Wepner was looking to close the distance and get on the inside but was met with a stiff jab that seemed to temporarily dissuade him. Midway through Round 3 a gash opened above the right eye of Wepner that almost immediately covered the side of his face with blood. Perhaps because of the cut, both fighters turned up their intensity and exchanged power shots for much of the remainder of the round. Following the round, Referee Harry Gibbs came over to view the cut and decided to call an end to the bout despite arguments from Wepner's corner to at least give him one more round."

Tonto, I really suggest you watch both fights for yourself as I did. You will come out of it with a completely different view. I'm a big admirer of Harry Gibbs, but there is a stark contrast to how he handled the cut in these two fights. I always went with the story on Bugner-Wepner and what we knew of Chuck's propensity at blood-letting, why would anyone question it. Until I actually watched the fight and came out of it with a different view. That cut just began and he gave the Wepner corner no time to even see if they could get it under control. A big difference from the Kaylor-Walker fight. Round after round of blood rolling down Kaylor's body uncontrollably and he lets it go on. Again, don't just read about these 2 fights. Please, watch them.
