Fights that were closer then the commentary would suggest.

With all the talk about robberies I decided to watch Lara vs. Williams, a fight I missed and man, I thought the announcing was HORRIBLE. They made it sound like Williams was going to need a stretcher after the bout even though he was fighting hard to the final bell. I'm sorry but I didn't think that was a one sided beating, I call that a good fight.

I'm not here to debate the winner.

I think alexander vs kotelnik is a good example, harold had it 116-112 I think and they were acting like devon was dominating while we all saw he clearly lost the fight and got outboxed by kotelnik.

HBO tends to have a couple of them per year.

Honestly, I'm 100% sure there wouldn't be that much talk about this fight being a robbery if the HBO crew wasn't acting like Williams was near dead. Lara timed Williams again and again and deserved to win, but based on the 10 point must system, this fight had to be close from ringside (not for us on TV). Williams threw more and everytime Lara scored a big left, he seemed satisfied with it instead of following with combinations. I think he fought a bit of a stupid fight. I think this is the kind of fight that looks way more one sided on TV than live.

The Rios vs Abril fight was one that the commentary was horrible, not debating that winner cause i think Abril won but the commentary was awful

I agree on williams vs Lara, i think the judges got it wrong but Williams despite absorbing the punishment was not as bad or career threatened as the tv guys said

it happens a lot when there is a flashy guy, or the house guy gets benefit

    its really annoying sometimes

just like there are fights when its not as close as the commentary

my brother watched the fight a day after i told him about the robbery

he didnt see this criminal robbery that i saw live, he pointed out how Lara would throw good shots but then move around not do too much else and during the long stretches Williams was throwing and coming forward and he said he thought Lara didnt do enough and was outworked

now i dont agree with him but Lara did have plenty of inactivity during rounds and didnt follow up much on his big lands

I take lots of **** here everytime i post it but what the hell i thought Cloud did enough to retain the title

I didn't see that fight. Were they only giving oohs and aaahs on Campillo's punches?

These announcers are too big of fan boys sometimes, and need to realize that other fans might like the guy they are calling against and don't want to hear them trash the other guy. The British announcers are way better in my opinion. They just call the action more rather then keep talking about something that happened a round or fight ago.

HBO is getting worse and Showtime is alot beter now...when HBO has Roy Jones, Tarver, or sometimes Steward commentating their are usually spot on...its funny cuz he spends half the time correcting Lampley's biased ass

I like Lederman but dude gives away rounds for "ineffective aggression"...I dont give rounds to the guy flailing away and hitting air...how the hell could he have scored every fight for PAc Man and JMM marquez by a 4 -5 point discrepency when all their fights are draw like affairs.....rounds are won by effective agression, ring generalship, defense, and cleaner shots landed...Lederman dont practice what he preaches

Steward is usually good. He noticed that Cotto was mostly hitting glove and Clottey was hitting face. When I watched it a second time it seemed a lot closer.
