The Marvelous one, is on record saying Finnegan gave him a good rumble twice ! and remarked how tough Kevin was, if he carried a KO punch , reckon he would have picked up a title.
PS- Coming back from Vegas in 1980 when Minter won the title, Finnegan was on the same plane as myself, as was Minter, and well remember a very drunk Finnegan , pleading with Minter to give him a title shot, sure, sure, replied Minter to try and placate a steaming Finnegan, FYI won £1500 on the fight. Happy Days.

Mike, I love the fact that you won that kind of money, which was damn good money in 1980. However, I never agreed with the decision. Just sayin'. LOL!

That was a great fight... Some of Mayorga's shots would've dropped most men but Mosely barely flinched.

This one also came to mind:

Alan Rudkin did it twice against Fighting Harada and Lionel Rose, both in their backyard.

Kanazawa was knocked in the second round in his first fight with Olivares, and came into the rematch with a record of 30-8-1. He had no business making it to the 14th rd against Olivares, and certainly no business hurting him 3-4 times, and possibly being close to getting a stoppage in the 13th rd. Obviously just my opinions, and I could be wrong. All i can do is go by his record on boxrec and the fight itself

Lupe Pintor! Pintor would have beaten a lot of good fighters the night he lost to Gomez

Spot on with every other mention here, but Barkley vs Toney?

Bizarre. Iran was shot to death and drained to limit on scale

Yes! It was that type of showing. Pintor doesn't get the recognition he deserves. His fights against Davila, Zarate, Meza, and Sandoval are indications of how close he was to truly being remembered as an ATG.

How do you figure? Wepner threw the most rabbitt punches in the history of the sport , where Ali had one glove behind his head to try and block it the entire fight ,, lol ... because Perez did nothing ... at least that is the fight i remember ... and wasn't there a law suit that followed?? lol

He quite literally fought the fight of his life twice, and unfortunately lost both.

You should watch the movie Chuck/The Bleeder on Netflix. Very in depth movie about Chuck's life at the time, and how he went about preparing for Ali.

Even though it was post Sanchez , Gomez was still regarded as one of the greatest fighters in the world and Pintor was really thought of as a decent fighter that squeezed a gift from Zarate .. that fight on his part was amazing .. he left it all in the ring against a bigger man who was considered much better coming into the fight ..

Yeah I didn't get that either. Impression I got was that Tucker was the one with the desire, not Douglas.
