Yes, I believe he was. I don't believe Tucker was well known at all.

Interesting .. I thought Tucker was kinda being hyped as a possible big thing but if I remember the fight , Douglas started pretty good but either ran out of gas or folded .. all leading to the incredible surprise too come.

Yeah he ran out of gas and/or didn't seem like he wanted it enough and folded. Here's an interesting article on Tucker right after his victory over Douglas. It goes into his rise from relative obscurity. https://www.newspapers.com/clip/70511670/the-herald/

Maybe Mustafa against Spinks .. he lost a ton of weight too fast and lost his title but showed a ton of heart against his best opponent ..

I don't know if Iran Barkley ever fought better than the night he lost a split decision to Roberto Duran.

Excellent point .. even though Duran gets deserved, exceptional credit Barkley fought an incredible fight .. here's one many might disagree but I feel Tua fought his best fight vs Ike .

The De La Hoya fight was definitely not a career night from Quartey. His recent inactivity (he’d only fought once in nearly two years prior) diminished him in pretty much every way if you ask me. He went from high octane pressure jabber to stand-still pot-shot jabber. Not Oscar’s best night, either, mind you. I suppose they could’ve been bad matchups for each other, too.

As for your other choice, I’d say his showcase in the rematch involved as much magic as the Magic Man could’ve ever conjured up. Pretty easily topping the first.

Good one. This usually gets overlooked because it was solid upset.

    Golota vs Bowe 1

    McCullough vs Morales

Gonzalez vs Carbajal 1 (I know Chiquita got the nod in the rematches but he looked better in this war than at any point in his career imo. He was a beast that night)

    Bika vs Calzaghe

Maidana vs Mayweather 1 ( Plenty of better talents tried and couldn’t match his performance against FMJ that night)
