Sergey KO_Valev had always been known more for his power than his boxing ability, but he shocked the hell out of me when he put on a measured, calculated, boxing masterclass on The Professor. Ain't nobody ever been able to make Bernard look dumb.

    Any other instances?

I don't think that fight fits the criteria. great performance but I don't think it was a masterclass clinic. He simply beat the heart out of Barrera lol.

I wouldn't say he put on a master class but he did outbox him for 12 rounds. Contradictive? Possibly, but let me explain. I feel like Kovalev's boxing ability is underrated and I am guilty of it. I don't think he's a better boxer than Hopkins but since Hopkins is 49, Kovalev is more athletic and stronger. Kovalev's power was the equalizer. Since Hopkins tasted his power early, he remained at bay and fought a safe fight. This allowed Kovalev to work on the outside. For someone to beat Kovalev, they'll have to respect his power but be willing to take risks.

I can't think of any other instances off the top of my head.

Total masterclass. Hopkins didn't even get the CHANCE to reach into his bag of tricks. The power had something to do with that, but nonetheless, a masterclass. Hopkins legitimately looked LOST.

Not on the same scale but Fury vs Chisora 2 might qualify.

Not a masterclass clinic but I found it a bit funny when Hatton felt Urango's power and decided to box him.

Kovalev has always been a good boxer. It's just that his power outshines a lot of everything else so that's what people talk about.

Kovalev UD was no surprise- even with it being as wide as it was.

I knew what Kovalev's capable of in terms of his boxing ability but that performance still shocked me, it was flawless.

Yea I agree about Kov putting a masterclass. It's just not his power, but the way he had to set up that power to connect on Hopkins, that was the beauty of it all. Kov had Bhops beat in every dept, even the jab dept, where Bhops could of really shined by countering over it, but Kov was pumping that jab with authority. Kov played mind games with Bhops, giving Bhops something to think about by dropping him early, and then using smart pressure by not giving him much time to think then crowding Bhops and forcing him to fight, but always behind the jab. Bhops always had problems with fighters with good jabs and always used his conservatively, but I think he underestimated Kov greatly, comparing him to Pavlik.

Ponce vs. Broner ... kind of. I feel Ponce is crude as they come but managed to outbox Broner at times ... and that decision was anything but clear.

I kind of feel like Pacquiao De La Hoya went that way a little bit.

This sounds ignorant knowing that Chavez can fight and is an excellent boxer, but geez did he easily outbox Camacho ... complete mismatch. One would assume the boxer would have some success given Chavez' problems with Whitaker and Taylor, but wow ...

Leonard Hearns I had Hearns boxing more, though once again Hearns is the furthest thing from crude.
