Examples of highly skilled boxers being outboxed decisively and embarrassingly? Any examples as decisive as Floyd Mayweather-Juan Manuel Marquez? Kalambay-McCallum is the only possibility that immediately comes to mind.

I'm not quite the fan of Mayweather winning this fight as you are, because he had every conceivable advantage possible. JMM never fought about 135 prior to that fight, he was shorter and had less reach, he was 36 years old, never fought at WW before, never mind fighting for the title, and FMJ, never even made the catchweight limit.

More impressive as far as I'm concerned is Hearns over Benitez. I was also going to pick Benitez over Duran, but realized it wasn't a whole lot different than the Mayweather over JMM win, it's just that one expected more out of Duran.

Hagler could box if he needed to, but SRL outboxed him.

SRL over Benitez is a good one too. His jab made a big difference.

Benitez is a funny fighter, had he been more dedicated in the later years one never knows just how far he could have gone. He won three titles, his first at 17, ( they said he had friends from his high school watching that fight) and he hardly trained for the SRL fight.

McClallum vs Watson. Over the final 6 rounds the "body snatcher" pulls out every cute trick in his ****nal. It was a tough fight and Watson never stopped trying but McClallum's jab was masterclass and he rose to another level. Watson's pick a boo hard is hard to hit clean, but Mike made it look easy and was crazy accurate. Mike outboxed him but did so in a very punishing way over the last half of the fight to get the tko.

Awesome fight. But again like many of these fights, the bigger guy usually ends up winning.

I reckon James Toney getting damn near shut out by Roy Jones Jr. qualifies. Locche must have done something right to go 15-0 against Cervantes.

Good call regarding Jones. That was a case of a highly skilled boxer being completely outboxed by an even higher skilled boxer in the same weight category.

Jones Jr. v Toney was first that came to mind.

Apparently Harry Greb did it all the time too.
