Came to post this: Hearns came prepared with rubber-soled shoes ... while Cuevas had the leather soles and couldn’t ever get traction.

You can see how much the slick ring surface impacted earlier the same night in Shavers vs. Tex Cobb. Looked like they were fighting on an ice rink.

I think there was a problem with the ring in Leonard-Duran 2. A loose board under the canvas or something like that. Didn't affect the outcome obviously, but it is noticeable during the fight. Cosell mentions it during the broadcast

Zaire Ali/Foreman. Not the loose ropes that was a Dundee condition. but the ring itself padding was very thick and slow that's why Ali was unable to dance and move like he said he woulfd. Foreman was cutting the ring off and the condition of the Padding had something to do with it was a new ring

Jimmy Young vs George Foreman. That heat was sweltering down in San Juan.

It was like 40 degrees out when Tyson destroyed Savarese.

The Nation of Islam Muslims being in the Lewiston, Maine Armory Building when Sonny Liston starts to magically flop around on the ring canvas in Round #1.
