p willy vs quintana 1 perfect example of a fighter having a off night. its like paul didnt have any fire in him what so ever. from his energy, to his overall body language.... well, whats your thought on that walk?
When Margarito beat the crap out of Williams, blood every where, yet criminal judges........... When Castillo beat Void, again, criminal judges.
williams beat margacheato. i agreee with the castillo robbing. this thread could also be called bad decisions. with that being said i can never forget whitaker vs chavez
Jose Napoles vs Billy Backus I Backus stopped Napoles on cuts in the fourth round, only to be trounced in the rematch. I don't think anyone would dispute that Napoles was far and away the better fighter. The Emile Griffith/Luis Rodriguez series. Griffith officially went 3-1 vs the superior fighter by my estimation in Rodriguez, who by most accounts should've won the series in at least a similar manner to what the cards indicated for Griffith. The only man I know who's seen all 4 fights believes unquestionably that Rodriguez won all 4. Based on the footage available of their third fight on Youtube (which Griffith officially won also), I have little reason to doubt him, as I thought Rodriguez was clearly the better man in that bout.
hahaha you should already know how i feel about that fight.... i didnt like the looks of it from the exact second i saw paul williams mohawk im not talking about bad decisions though... im talking about fights when a fighter who was way more skilled, technically more sound, and more talented fighter.. lost to a fighter that they shouldn't have these seem like perfect examples... all though i didnt see either of these fights
Upsets, bad decisions, come from behind victories or just up to me? That's a damned broad topic. Here's a variety... Byrd's win over Vitali - any reasonable human being would acknowledge this (circumstances) Valuev's win over Holyfield - nothing to discuss (decision) Griffin over RJJ I - circumstance Castro over Jackson I - lucky punch Ottke over Reid - decision + circumstance (ref)
Douglas beat Tyson, but he certainly was the better man that night. Julian Jackson over Herol Graham is interesting - Graham was better that night, though Jackson won; but Jackson was probably the better overall fighter, though Graham was arguably better at that point in their careers (at least at 160)... Most any non-shot ATG loss to any non-ATG qualifies... McCall over Lewis (I won't say Rahman cuz Lewis was lousy that night) Fox over LaMotta - circumstance, fix Cecil Hudson over LaMotta - no clue, just saw it on Boxrec Laing over Duran - just better that night Ward over Gatti I - some odd judging (I can never score this for Ward, no matter how hard I try) + sheer guts. [Not that Gatti was ATG or anything, just sayin'...]
Thorsten May vs. Stefan Angehrn fits into this. May was a great amateur, winning Olympic gold in 1992 at lightheavyweight. Many people in Germany thought that May would be the next big thing after Henry Maske. But in 1996 he lost to Adolpho Washington in an IBF-cruiserweight world championship. After that fight May never was the same. His confidence just wasn´t there and when he took on Stefan Angehrn in December 1997 he was winning the fight but could´nt cope with the fact that a very limited fighter like Angehrn was able to give him a lot of trouble and therefor he quit in the 9th round.
