    hmm says . . .

Marciano perhaps ..... one of the smallest HWs at 5'10", pretty average speed as well.

There was clearly a difference in size but PW has the advantage in hand speed.

Given that PBF was not only much quicker but bigger than JMM, it does make you wonder how one could've thought JMM even had a chance. And maybe the odds on PBF winning should've been a lot greater than -350. But i guess all the promotion and 24/7 tricks the audience into thinking it might be competitive.

I thought it was a joke matchup from the getgo. But it's funny how so many people were looking forward to this fight.

Thought this was a good example.

It does put Floyd/JMM into a historical perspective, though - if someone is moving up without a speed advantage, he's in trouble.

Basilio's defeat of Sugar Ray Robinson. Sugar was definitely a MW by '57 (weight 160) whereas Basilio wasn't. He used to drink a galon of water before getting on the scales and even then could only inflate his weight to 153lbs. Also the slower man, he lifted the title from Sugar in a SD. He was also nearly 4" shorter.

I don't see anything wrong with the Duran/Leonard example. Duran skipped a weight division to tackle Leonard and was slightly slower, too.

That's what you were asking for, wasn't it? Williams had the advantage in size and speed.

Mosley vs. Cotto. Mosley wasn't that much bigger but he was definitely bigger and certainly had the speed advantage.

Hagler was the slower, bigger man and kicked the sh*t out of the smaller, quicker man. So FAIL.
