What are some examples of this?

    The decision should be fair(ish).

    Lewis-Holyfield 2?

I'm not sure what Holyfield could've done much different in order to win, other than throwing caution to the wind (against one of the hardest punchers in boxing history).

De La Hoya vs Mosley. Any fight where there was a robbery would apply. P. Whitaker was once robbed blind.

It's really hard to come up with an example here because, unless it's something like Tyrone Everett vs Alfredo Escalera, or something, in other words, an outright robbery, then there always has to be a reason why a guy loses, however close, on why he didn't "close the deal" so to speak with the judges.

Marquez in the 2nd fight against Pacquiao, I thought that the decision was fair as I had Pac winning by a point but certainly would have had no complaints if it had gone the other way.

That's what I was going to say. It was a close fight. If Holy was a bit younger and closer to his prime he would have pulled it off.

    Young-Norton comes to mind.
I know the pro-Norton folks will point to the middle round body attack that gave several of those rounds to Kenny but, I felt, Jimmy fought a very tactical fight. Stick-move-counterpunch (loved that 10th round!)-tieup-slip-etc..In retrospect, I now see the fight as much closer than I did watching it live but, at that time, I was incensed when they raised Norton's hand.

hopkins - calzaghe : hopkins clarly outboed calzaghe but was outpointed due to the strongr workrate and aggression.

fenech - nelson : fenech did a very good job ofouthustling and outpointing a very solid opponant

    Morales-Barrera I

I thought the decision in that one was fair, as in either man could have got the nod with no complaints & it was a fight were MAB put up the performance of his career to that point but so did his opponent unfortunately.
Im not sure if Barrera could have actually fought any better... but Morales was young, strong & hungry & constantly answered Barrera`s best shots with terrific punches of his own.
    (Best fight ever)

I think Morales fought a tactically brilliant fight in the MAB re-match... but that decision was anything but fair, pure boxing politics so I cant include that one.

    Hopkins-Calzaghe.

B-Hop fought a volume puncher, and barely took a punch the entire night. Unfortunately, he didn't do enough futile marching forward and waving his arms around to convince the Vegas judges.

    Salvador Sanchez vs Pat Cowdell

I thought Cowdell did all he could to win this fight and Sanchez just pulled it out at the end.
