Rewatching McEwan/Lee its clear that Mcewan is the better fighter but Lee was very fortunate of having a guy who kept coming forward even when hes completely hurt and his legs are completely gone. Didnt really look like Lee won it more like Mcewan lost it by rejecting the advice his corner gave him in the last few rounds.

What are some other fights that the winner didnt really win it but just that the loser lost the fight.

I guess another prime example would be DLH/Trinidad.

Lets keep this with KO or decision endings and try to avoid technical or DQ endings like the Bowe/Golota fights.

Kermit "the frog" Cintron vs Paul Williams > went to the cards after the famous frog jump (while Paul was in trouble in round 3) and amazingly Paul got the nod.

Vitali Klitschko vs Chis Byrd > VK miles ahead on the cards, quits due to an shoulder injury in a fight he could have and should have won with one arm.

Nate Campbell vs Bobby Peden I > Campbell was winning the fight and started to taunt Bobby. Only Bobby knocked him right on the chin and Nate couldn't beat the count. Hilarious, certainly with Peden winning the rematch also.

    Cotto-Clottey.
I felt Clottey was on his way to a possible TKO if he stepped on the gas late. In the last few rounds its not that Cotto stepped it up to get the win. He cruised and Clottey did nothing to take it from him.
Even then alot of people thought Cotto lost that fight. I saw him taking a very close one that was up for grabs in the last 3 rounds.

Actually you know what. Basically all of Clotteys losses seem to fit the bill...

It's part mental but I think that he has stamina problems from making WW when he should ideally fight at JMW

all of SNV's losses. SNV decides when to lose and when to win.

don't agree...i thought Lee was the better fighter, he just seemed to be gassed/hurt, and was just winging big shots instead of boxing the guys ears off...McEwan is nothing special, just a crude brawler who gets in there and mixes it up and does good to the body. he has no power because his technique is awful. I don't see any real skill in him.

    ?

Both men were trying their hardest to score and hurt their opponent while being craftily calculative of the risks throughout, not sure if this applies to a description where a winner getting the W because his opponent failed to perform.

I was actually thinking of a thread topic like this recently.

Molina-Lundy on FNF over the summer could fit.
    Campbell-Peden
    Casamayor-Katsidis somewhat? :think

I do not think its stamina problems at all. Its not like he is breathing heavily towards the end. He seems to always be in great shape. I have never seen him look exhausted during a fight.

I just honestly dont know what it is. He was one of my dark horses of WW when it was heating up. I thought he could beat anyone on any given night. It was so frustrating watching him fight.

How do you figure?? He tried his hardest to get the W. Even after getting hit with those bombs he never quit trying.
    Casamayor was brutally precise.

Its funny how people really overlook that win to downgrade JMMs win over him. He was something like a 3-1 underdog if not bigger and the forums here were calling me crazy for saying Casamayor would TKO him. ESB in general was high on Katsidis and the majority had picked him to drub Casamayor.

You're right, it's just an easy call-out because he was winning the fight and ran right into a left-hand trap that could have been avoided.

And yes both Katsidis and Casamayor at the time of their losses to JMM are definitely underrated.

The third fight as well. Tarver wa scompletely gassed and Jones just stood there, waiting for Tarver to make a move. It hurts me watching it
