A list like this would be like taking a glance at the table of contents of a book, without actually reading it. And this forum is not a proper place or way to provide the reasoning behind the list. Would take too long to type and wouldn't benefit the author anyhow for the efforts, with the response that is typical here.
Many would disagree. I've not done a list but would be post it if so. I'm sure your sometimes unique way of looking at things would be enjoyed for it's freshness. Your knowledge of early era's would likely give people some good insights too.
This may sound like I'm whining or thinking myself bigger than I really am (and can admit this honestly that I lack knowledge about too many things or didn't put enough efforts into learning even about things I consider myself knowledgable about), but the atmosphere is too hostile, and most criticism is far from being constructive/positive. We are talking about subjective things, it requires more tolerance and honesty. First is needed to listen and communicate properly. And second - to be able to admit one's lack of knowledge of this and that, or problems with reasoning. Admitting a mistake or a weakness is almost always used against that person on public forums like this, so nobody is eager to admit anything like this even if they know they were wrong. Thus, from my experience, it's only possible when you communicate in private (pm's or e-mail) or with friends.
For me it looks like you are afraid of posting your list either because you know you will get some crtitc or because you know you can´t explain of some of your positioning. That´s the impression i have. Maybe wrong though. Just post it, you don´t have to explain yourself to everyone.
I'm not happy with some positions in the second half of my Top 10. And it would take a long time to ponder them, but I have no wish to waste my time on this. Still have too many projects unfinished, such as compiling a verified record of Jimmy Barry (very-very different from the version of his record that has been known for the last century), or looking up additional info on many Joe Gans' bouts from mid-1900's, or gathering more clippings of pre-fight build of Johnson-Jeffries (most of what I have covers only the month preceding the fight, but there was a lot of reporting during the previous half-year to a year), etc. I'm pretty erratic in my searches.
