By this, I mean which fights on paper just screamed knockout but somehow went to the cards. Such as:

Foreman-Alex Stewart: Foreman, coming off the gritty decision loss to Holyfield, chooses wisely with Stewart as a foe in his second run at the title. A big puncher but without the requisite fury or attack of a true contender, Stewart is also a bit chinny. This proves itself out in the early going with Foreman dropping him twice and nearly stops him. The Underdog works his way back into the fight however and rakes the tiring Foreman with hard shots, grotesquely swelling his face. It somehow goes to the scorecards with Foreman squeaking out a razor-thin verdict.

Reading about this fight before it happened there was no way I saw this going the full route.

The first fight between Barbados Joe Walcott and George Lavigne. Two of the hardest punchers ever.... and naturally it goes the distance. Same with Walcott vs Langford. I can't fathom how tough someone like Margarito much be to see out the Pac fight. Same with Inoue, vs Donaire.

Basilio vs Robinson is bonkers, as well.

Green Mike Tyson vs James Quick Tillis!
Sonny Liston vs Eddie Machens (Machens is a borderline great fighter IMO, but i never thought he would be able to stay on his horse for the whole fight!)
Oliver McCall vs frank Bruno. I predicted a McCall win by KO!

Another one might be Gato Gonzalez- Andy Ganigan. Both big punchers and neither terribly durable. Go figure.

    RJJ-Tarver 3.

Roy had been KO’d in his previous two fights (including against Tarver) and was coming off the longest layoff of his career without a warm up fight. It screamed KO but it didn’t eventuate even though Roy was hurt once late.

    Tyson-Ruddock II.
Huge punchers with an axe to grind with each other.
The first fight ended early and there was every reason to suspect this one would, too.

    Hearns - Barkley II

Given the flogging Hearns put on Barkley and Barkley's sudden knock out you'd really really think one of these two would fall in a rematch.

    Ceuvas - Shields

With Shields being stopped in two of his last 6 and Cuevas going around breaking jaws and eye sockets did anyone really think this was going the long haul? On top of this two fights earlier Pipno flattened Pete Ranzany in 2 rounds who had earlier in the year stopped Shields.

Who could have possibly foreseen Ray Anderson going 15 with peak Bob Foster even if he did chase surviving over winning?? He'd lost 3 of his previous 4 against nobodies and one stopped him in under 2 minutes. He'd won 2 fights in his previous 7 against a guy 3-3-1 and over the weights and a guy 25-2. How did he even get a shot.

I personally didn't feel Eddie Davis would last 12 with Spinks let alone give him a competitive fight.

    Gerrie Coetzee vs. John Tate
    George Foreman vs. Jimmy Young

If they fought 10 times, I think Coetzee and Foreman stop them in nine of the 10 fights. Neither Young nor Tate beat a decent fighter again.

I still have no idea how either fight went the distance.
