I think that distinction should go to Duran/Leonard I, but they are both overrated. :good

I know...but he was already coming off his first loss, and Ayala got smashed by Abe (not to mention outboxed twice by David Banks). I was really hoping for Caminero to make a statement. I'm not saying he can't bounce back, and I'll still buy tickets to see him (he was the nicest, classiest dude back when I met him on the undercard of Oliver-Lopez...and has a smoking hot MILF trophy) but 5-2 is a hard point to rebuild a promising career from. I really thought he was going to be the next middleweight banger to put asses in seats after the current elites retire or move up.

he is a great kid no doubt...I trained a kid who was going to fight him just before he turned pro it would have been a good fight...but he is more of an exciting local fighter than a national star...u from new england?

    whoa...

yeah ima have to disagree with u here. everyone i know who has ever bought a floyd fight, only bought it in the hopes of him getting ko'd.

hes a big character and a big personality no doubt. but its not his in the ring action that brings all those ppv buys.

Duran-Leonard I is a wonderful fight. Maybe not a Gatti-Ward style barnburner, but a fierce and absorbing battle between two ATGs trying to decapitate each other. Some real skill and fire on show. That's just my opinion though.

Hearns-Leonard I is horribly overrated. For long periods it is positively dull, and the ending just doesn't satisfy.

    <- Boston, indeed :yep

"fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" - but, I liked what I saw of Danny O'Connor on Saturday. I don't think he's PPV-bound or anything, but I'd probably peg him to beat a Matthew Hatton type in the next year or so.

Duran/Leonard I is one thing that I still don't get get, much like the superiority of Sugar Ray Robison and why everybody comes to Duran's aid. Perhaps I will be educated on all of these things in the coming months.

Watching a video of someone hitting a punchbag would be just as instructive. Mayweather-Corrales is a better example of a Floyd masterclass, as Corrales was actually a live opponent.

However, both fights pale in comparison to Whitaker-Nelson as a true exhibition of the sweet science.

You went from a Pac sceptic to a Pac believer. The rest shall follow. Or maybe it won't. Some things you will simply never agree with. I, for instance, will never understand why people think Leonard would've beaten Duran if he had 'boxed' (to me that fundamentally doesn't make sense - it's basically saying if Leonard had fought a completely different fight and been much better then he would've won. I could say that about any losing fight and any losing fighter. Absurd).

PS: I am also unsure of Robinson as the GOAT. I'm not saying he definitely wasn't, but I don't see why he is so universally agreed upon.

Pacquiao made me a believer, and I don't think I've said an unreasonable word about him since his fight with Ricky Hatton. That said, I think Miguel Cotto will beat him. This should make all of the Pacquiao fans happy, because I always get my predictions wrong when he fights. Without fail.

I believe if Ray Leonard had fought a smarter fight then the same thing would have happened with what transpired in their rematch. The people who say Leonard didn't fight the wrong fight the first time seem to be the same people who attribute 'no mas' with Duran seemingly having bad preparation. I believe all fighters should be treated the same, and that Duran should take responsibility for his performances.

Saying Leonard fought the wrong fight isn't taking any credit away from Duran. He still beat a peak Leonard in great physical shape. However, the rematch speaks volumes for me. I don't see why it would be so hard to believe that Leonard could have fought a different fight if it so easy to believe that Duran's losses to Benitez, Leonard, and Hearns were all because of his training regimes.
