It's all that amateur slapping. It's detrimental to professional boxing when you can't adjust and actually learn the fundamentals and actual punching technique. Ironically in some ways that makes Bradley a very poor man's Harry Greb, sort of.

Bradley v. Provodnikov was the best fight in years. 6+ rounds of over 200 punches thrown, MASSIVE punishment shipped, knockouts, staggers, one guys face busted to ****. Boxing, brawling, body punching.

Not gonna lie, watching it live, I thought I was watching the reincarnation of Hagler-Hearns. That trade on the ropes at the end of the second with Bradley rocked? I've not seen anything like that since Zale-Graziano III.

Bradley vs Provdnikov was a good fight, but I wouldn't call it a great fight. And there were only four good rounds of action, not ten or twelve like some people are saying. Plus, the shear level of skills on display is pretty poor. Provodnikov is a C+ fighter and Bradley fought down to his level. I think people are just momentarily swept up in the excitement and when they go back to watch the fight with some time removed it won't be as impressive.

I'm not saying that you need A+ level fighters to have a great fight, and I definitely think the fight had a lot of the right ingredients, but comparisons to Hagler v Hearnes or Zale vs Graziano are a little much.

For example I think that Pawel Wolak vs Delvin Rodriguez, a junior middleweight bout from 2011 was a better more action packed fight by two B level fighters. Merqui Sosa vs Prince Charles Williams I a light heavyweight bout from 1995 was better. Tommy Cordova vs Freddie Roach, a junior lightweight bout from 1984 was a non-stop competitive knock down drag out brawl that makes me want to see more Freddie Roach fights; not because he was such a great boxer but because I feel he might have a little of that Arturo Gatti spirit in him. William "Caveman" Lee vs John LoCicero, a middleweight bout of 1981 had a spectacular last two rounds, even though they had no technique to speak of. That said, I wouldn't compare any of them to Hagler v Hearns.

I disagree that a low level of skill was on display, but every fight you mentioned was also terrific.

No shot was more ****up'ing than the leaping left Oscar landed with Ike against the ropes. Ruslan was pushing his shots straight. Oscar would've had Bradley KTFO by the 5th :conf

    Yes, he would have.

But I disagree. Ruslan gets TREMENDOUS leverage on his looping shots. Textbook example of how to generate power.
