I took you up on it. That was a good fight. Thanks for uploading it. Tons of action and boxing in a phonebooth. Could have been better if there were less one sided domination by Fenech, or if either man were hurt, cut, knocked down, or bruised, but still a very nice fight. Reminded me of Duran vs Palomino minus the knockout. I'd like to recommend that everyone see Aaron Davis vs Mark Breland and Jose Stable vs Charley Scott. And I'll second the nomination of Bernard Dunne vs Ricardo Cordoba. That was one hell of a fight.
Duran didn't knock Palomino out. Fenech was hurt by one punch too, but only briefly. Glad you enjoyed it as I did :good
You're right, Duran didn't knock Palomino out. I wonder why I thought he did? It wasn't that long ago that I watched it.
the prince charles williams-merqui sosa fights...they don't get the attention that they deserve...sickeningly brutal pair of fights they were
The first one definitely was. I don't think the second is on the internet. But Dan Rafael seems to concur with your opinion. He mentioned them in an article about the most brutal fights he'd ever seen.
Since I loved the Moorer/Cooper fight and the Holyfield/Qawi match I decided to check out the other ones on your list. I have to say, that Muyung-Woo Yuh vs Oh Kon Son fight was pretty epic, especially the second round, but for some reason I found the knockout unsatisfying. It had this funny look like the guy was giving up, he'd given all he had and couldn't go on. Because he goes down into that kneeling bow position that Japanese do when they are ashamed, but he gets up at the count of ten not looking dazed or shaky on his feet at all. Still, a beautiful fight with intense action that lasts more than six continuous rounds is a real rarity. The Nishioka vs Veeraphol rivalry I'm not so sure about. I found your thread comparing it to the Pacquiao/Marquez rivalry but I don't know that the skill and intensity are quite as high. I decided to start with the first one, but switched it off after nothing happened in the first couple of rounds. Does it get better? The first Pacquiao/Marquez fight had three knockdowns and a broken nose in the first round.
They're not as good as the Pacquiao-Marquez fights, but are worth a watch. If you don't have the patience to sit through a few feeling out rounds then just watch the 4th, where Veeraphol batters Nishioka for the full fight in an aesthetically pleasing and satisfying display. Betulio Gonzalez Vs Guty Espadas, Guty Espadas Vs Chan-Hee Park, Jung-Koo Chang Vs Katsuo Tokashiki, Fighting Harada Vs Pone Kingpetch, Antonio Avelar Vs Tae-Shik Kim may be more up your street.
