Fights you thought shoulda been stopped, but then the guy in danger ends up winning?

I was watching the 1st Taylor v Pavlik fight again yesterday, and I remember thinking at the time that the referee was going to stop it - and probably should have. Obviously I was proven wrong as Pavlik went on to win, but are there any fights where you thought the referee either (a) should've stopped it earlier or (b) was going to stop it, and the fighter in danger then went on to win?

The 1st Bowe-Golota fight springs to mind, Corrales-Castillo I too.

    Any others?

Watching the fight for the first time, I was SURE Foreman was going to get stopped after the 2nd KD against Lyle.

    Castillo-Corrales I
    Bowe-Golota II

Both spring to mind but have both been mentioned already.

    Thompson-Eubank II possibly.

Thompson looked exhausted took some big shots.

Under-rated that fight it was a classic example of a 'see-saw' fight. Backwards and forwards, Thompson hurt/exhausted he would come back and stun Eubank, himself hurt/exhausted and looking in trouble he would come back and hurt Thompson.

Nowadays, most referees probably would've stopped Yvon Durelle-Archie Moore I in round 1.

I thought Joe Cortez DID stop the Humberto Soto-Francisco Lorenzo fight. It looked like changed his mind.

Then later on, Lorenzo wins by DQ.

Hopefully they change it to a no-contest.

Benn was OK. That fight should never have been stoped in the 1st Round.

pavlik taylor I- i wouldn't have liked to have seen it stopped but a lot of referees would have been well within their rights to stop it

I thought it was good that Steve Smoger let the Pavlik-Taylor fight go on. Not just because of what happened afterwards, but I thought Pavlik was doing a good job of surviving and it wasn't like Taylor was accurate after the KD. He hit Pavlik with one looping overhand right that hurt Pavlik, but for the most part, he was missing.
