Fights you were looking forward to at the start of the year, that now you are not?

I agree totally on the PBF-Pac one...I cannot be asked with that now. Lost all desire about 8 months ago tbh.

I want DeGale-Groves more now because i really feel there a class apart and like to see if i'm right. (DeGale to win IMO)

I think Alexander vs Bradley will still be hard, but i feel he may have exposed a bit to much against Kotelnik and may have gave away his password to Timmy!

Never felt Clev-Bellew would happen and can't see it happening tbh...not for a long while yet.

 

IF it got made your enthusiasm would come flooding back, i think everyones lack of desire is due to the fact , we dont think it will really get made.

Groves Degale is still massive, when that fight takes place, this place will be buzzing. I think Degale will win(always have) but i feel Groves is now getting massively under rated.

 

I have to disagree my man, I never rated chunky that highly until I saw him take Smigga apart, but I take my hat off to Degale after that performance & think the lad has a big future. & after watching Groves get a dodgy win over an unprepared Kenny Anderson? I think Degale-Groves would be a carbon copy of Degale-Smigga.

Degale is going places IMO, & although Groves is good? I could see Chunky pick the lad apart at ease. I know he only beat smigga, but I thought Smigga was a big ask at that stage of Degales career, & he bossed it much to my surprise. I cant see Groves after a punishing fight with a last minute version of Kenny Anderson posing much of a problem to Degale at this moment in time anyway.

 

Yeah but Dunk, I refuse to write Groves off after the Anderson fight, especially as we dont really know exactly how good Kenny even is(if that makes sense). Admittedly, Groves did not look good..but he still came back from the brink of disaster and showed decent heart

My point is, as far as looking fwd to the fight, domestically, it doesnt get any bigger than this one, regardless of who people pick to win.

 

Dunk, I agree with your post. I thought degale would have a real tough one with smigga. But the way he handled the fight and the occasion surprised me, especially at this stage of his career. He is going places, and quick. He will finish groves easier than he did smigga IMO

 

Macklin v Barker

 

Degale v groves: easy win for degale

Bradley v Alexander: Bradley will win via wide decision

Cleverley-Bellew: only people that keep mentioning this fight are people on here or Bellew himself. They are levels apart. Simple

 

Inactivity aside it's looking increasingly likely that Barker would dance his way through this one but who can blame Macklin's seemingly lack of enthusiasm after Warren dangling a carrot for him for so long. A non rusty Barker vs a motivated Macklin has barnstormer written all over it. Too close to call for me. A decent showing against decent opposition each in the spring and the fight will surely have to be made for later on in the year.

 

Got to say with the macklin barker shout that I think barker should be a favourite. I like macklin, but to everyone except allegedly and the judges macklin lost. Having said that I think barker need a tune up before which I think he's having in march if I'm not mistaken

 

i think barker vs macklin is 50-50 but i'd lean towards macklin.

no matter how badly macklin did in his last fight, i think barker looks fragile when under pressure.

tbh i don't think theres any fights i'm no longer looking forward to. degale-groves will still be intriguing, and clev-bellew i never thought would happen anyway

 

Deffo lost interest in Pac vs PBF. I have resigned myself to the fact it won't happen now and I have lost respect for both men. I thought that the longer it went on, the more the anticipation would build- it does, up until a point and then any interest quickly wanes.... Wlad vs Haye is going the same way, although I think that will happen. The longer they leave it, the further past their primes both men are. If they aint in their primes it don't mean ****- take BHOP's victory over RJJ as proof of that.

 

Yeah i suppose your right. I think like many i've more resigned myself to it not happening :roll:.

Btw on Groves your right he's getting underrated a fair bit and many are going off Anderson fight and it's not giving a true reflection of his ability's because he fought off the back foot which isn't natural to him but i rewatched his fight in the States the other day and he's really got issues defensively. His style's defense relies on sharp reactions and reflexes and Georgie i think real world class reflexes to make it pay.

I agree on DeGale winning and i think Georges best chance may be now. I don't know if he will develop into the fighter we all hope...just a feeling i have sadly.

I never thought Bellew-Cleverly was a realistic goer for 2010. I'm still interested in Bellew-McIntosh which was/ is always more likely to happen short term.
