He was down a couple times against jr. lightweights; can't remember the guys' names off hand, though. (Believe one guy was named "Valenzuela" or something?) Neither of them were anyone noteworthy.

maybe emanuel augustus, teddy atlas commented that he was knocked out by jesus chavez but ever since i had seen him, he was never even visably shaken by head shots from hard punchers; johnson, mayweather, vilches etc.

Oscar seemed a little shakey while young, getting knocked down a few times but fighting Tito, Shane, Bernard (save the rib shot) Matorga and Paq he proved to be a tough s.o.b.

another is Sweet Pea ... it was never shakey but proved to be very strong ...

Holmes was dropped and held on for his life as a amateur v.s. Bobick ... it's often the case when a guy is weight drained ... he was being pushed to make light heavy for the Olympic team and then allowed up at the last minute ,,, that's his story ...

I don't believe in the notion that one's chin improves. All of the examples given here probably have nothing to do with "chins" but weight issues, which lead to durability concerns, or lack of prowess at the early stages of a career, leading one to get hit more ( like the Pac example). It has **** all to do with chins.

As the neck, back and legs strengthen, durability improves. As the ability to roll with punches and keep your hands up improve, durability improves

agreed, I would say it is also down to improved anticipation, rolling, being less tensed up which can come with experience. Also if a fighter is having to react to the speed of a slower opponent he is going to be able to deal with the other mans power a lot better.

No way is his chin 'solid', he now knows to hold his hands up when hurt and move backwards of side-to-side rather than straight on.

No one with a solid chin should need minutes and minutes to recover.

I wouldn't go so far to say Khan's got a solid chin now, but it seems a bit more sturdy now. Maybe a weight thing.
