Filip Hrgović is a 6'6 23 year old Super Heavyweight with a 26-4? 11? KO's WSB record. Born in Zagreb, Croatia. Already selected to compete in the 2016 Brazilian Olympics, and recently named the March 2015 Fighter of the Month from AIBA. Filip has a ton of potential, he's incredibly agile for a big man, he's incredibly light on his feet, he's got a nice jab, fast hands, good footwork, sharp uppercut, solid overhands, and based on his competition so far he appears to have a very good chin, so all around he has the makings of the total package. He's already built up a reputation in sparring, he is the man responsible for David Haye Vs Tyson Fury being called off, it was he that cut Haye's eyebrow open. And he was one of Kubrat Pulev's sparring partners in the run up to the Wlad match. He has a win over Joseph Parker, Sergey Kuzmin, Rostyslav Arkhypenko and Abdulkadir Abdullayev thus far and his losses are nothing to be ashamed of, he lost to Robert Cammarelle one of the best amateur HW's there is, and very close points losses to Dychko and Omarov. It'll be at least a little over a year in late 2016 before he turns pro, but we should all keep close track of him, because he's one to watch. So Check Out The Heavyweight Monster Of Zagreb.:toney:toney:toney:toney

HW division is really heating up. Can you imagine Hrgovic, Omarov, Medzidhov, Dychko turning pro right after olympics?

I can't wait for him and Mezhidov especially.:happy Heavyweight is going to be pretty damn amazing. One great thing is Hrgovic and Omarov is still relatively young, so they have a lot of years left hopefully.

What do you think about Kuzmin CST? He's fighting Nascimento for his 3rd pro fight.

I like him he's exciting all around pretty solid, not quite as good as Filip but solid, I've been meaning to do a thread on him as well, but I've had a busy past few months and haven't been able to do as many of these threads as I'd like, keep an eye out for a Kuzmin thread. I should have one up before the end of the week.:good

One can only hope! I have seen Hrgovic fight a few times. He is very gifted, but has not put it all together yet. 2016 is his time.

^^^I want to add a bit to your quote, Hrgovic has a great chin.

I added that to the write up, I tend to like to hold off on predicting how good their chins are, you never can full know until they go pro, but it does appears his is pretty damn good.

    My view it this:

Chins are best graded when they are hit hard. When this happens, some fighters go down or out, others are shaken up and need to grab, others withdrawn from the action until they get their senses back.

I saw Hrgovic hit hard a few times of times, and he seldom shows any of the above. As such you can make some definite remarks about his chin. It's going to be very good to great in the pro's.

I think Hrgovic needs a better trainer and needs to sharpen his sense of urgency in the amatuer game of points. This won't be a problem if he goes pro. He might need to work on stamina a bit too.

I have been aware of him for sometime now and once thought he could possibly become a professional prodigy but I have come back down to Earth regarding my initial hopes for him. Their is simply something missing and he will not medal in Rio and I would not hold my breath for him turning pro after that.
