Cut by the first not otherwise hurt, he felt the second but was not badly hurt. And moved his head and avoided dozens of left hooks during the fight - Adeleye kept aiming to reopen the cut but was unable to do so.

I don't understand why some people are so unfairly negative about Hrgovic.

The whole point is Queensberry who are also Hrgovic's promoters too now don't think Hrgovic is really dangerous. Their allegiances lie with Moses and Hrgovic has already fought two of the biggest punchers in the division in Big Bang and Dubois and taken a ton of punishment and he's seemed disillusioned with the sport for years. If they had his best interests at heart they would manoeuvre him in another direction.

Thanks. Yes, exactly. Whyte was served up as the sacrificial lamb and whilst they claimed it was a really risky fight for Moses to take I don't think they genuinely believed it was. I think they knew Moses would blow him out and that will be Hrgovic's roll in their eyes too if he's up next for Moses

You and I watched different fights.
Hrgovic got hurt by a left hook in the 7th, nothing too bad, but it clearly stun him. And then again in the 8th, and this time he was hurt for real.
He is a sucker for hooks. His head movement is mainly him leaning backwards as much as he can. He doesn't bob and weave, or bend his knees at all.

Because he isn't - at least not to anyone good...

Doesn't have the power to trouble decent+ chins and doesn't have the stamina to outpoint anyone he doesn't stop unless they're also terrible on cards.

It's a pretty decent mix to spell "durable gatekeeper".

Maybe he could've been more if he hadn't sat on his ass for a few years, maybe he could've been better with different trainers... Or maybe this was all he was ever going to be?

    I don't know... I think it's a bit of a win-win for them.

Both fighters are hyped beyond their resumes so far (Hrgovic as a contender, which IMHO he's not - and Itauma as a contender already when he's still a highly promising prospect with some question marks) - whoever wins would get major hype out of it and would get some major clamour for a title bout, probably above Kabayel and even Parker for some people.

Yes, one guy would lose a bit of noise for a while - but at least the beneficiary is one of their own... And it isn't too late for either to work their way back up - if they want to.

I know we’re not supposed get overboard with a win over washed up Whyte (who was just a little more than a glorified tomato can with great management in his prime who also benefited from the incomptence of anti-doping agencies), but,

    Gut says Itauma pummels Hrgovic.

I think the fight we all really want to see is Itauma vs. Gjergjaj

Agree with this. Lets not forget people were calling Whyte a bum before his fight with Fury a few years ago and now Itauma is being praised for beating an older more shot version.

Whilst true, and there's only so much credit you can give for beating someone that washed...

There's often reasons for certain narratives that don't necessarily bear any relation to truth - I suspect people were calling Whyte a bum at that point primarily because the hype around Wilder wasn't ready to die yet, his cheerleaders were desperate to cling to any narrative that helped support the assertion that only Fury was better than him, and the fact he'd ducked Whyte for years could only be excused if Whyte was a bum and it was fine to swerve him... It didn't matter that Whyte would probably have beaten him at the time, but truth never figured too highly in the numerous Wilder hype narratives anyway.

In terms of that narrative taking hold, it probably also didn't help that very few people had much motivation to defend him - as both a drugs cheat and a dirty fighter, he was never going to have too many fans.

It should be highly debatable whether Whyte was actually Fury's second best win - he'd proven far more than Wilder ever did, certainly... Even if, in hindsight, it's possible that Povs special KO had ruined his chin for good, he doesn't appear to have been any less durable than Wilder in #2, with one being saved by the referee and the other by his own corner.

For Itauma though? That Whyte was so utterly zombified it really didn't tell us a thing - and that's disappointing... But I'm not at all surprised that the hype has further accelerated nonetheless.

Absolutely! Can’ imagine the joy of watching it back to back with annihilation of Whyte haha

Chisora is 41. At some point Itauma has to fight a good gatekeeper or another exciting prospect and preferably someone who is closer to 30 than 50.

Fighting Chisora does nothing for Itauma.

In my opinion, Hrgovic would be the perfect opponent for Itauma now. There's plenty of time for Usyk, Itauma is strong and young. I'm confident Warren will continue to help him develop intelligently.

He's a good fighter but he hasn't improved since the amateurs and has never been able to maximize his potential for a variety of different reasons

He can punch when he sits down on his shots but, as said, the vast majority of his shots are arm punches.

Like I said, he's already taken a ton of punishment

Listen to what E-Hearn says here about the scar tissue round his eyes

Guaranteed those cuts are going to keep reopening and that issue alone is going to lose him fights

It's a bad fight for him to take, especially in his next fight
