Filip Hrgovic the new Audley Harrison? Or is there still hope for him?

He's got an incredible window starting in a year or so where he will be close to the only physical beast HW in the prime age range with an unexposed chin.

Yet somehow he is really giving off strong "gonna mess it up" vibes. I am hoping that this is a little depression because of his family situation and he will come out the other side refocused.

Audley would of never beat Zhang. It's far too early to say that Hrgovic will blow it like Audley did, who was basically a massive coke head throughout his pro career. Audley never had the self discipline to live the life of a real pro, we can't say that of Hrgovic yet just because he had one bad performance.

Sometimes a fighter struggles early on in a fight but learns from it. Joshua after the Whyte fight, Fury after his fights with Cunningham and McDermott as examples. Maybe we'll see a better Hrgovic or maybe he's simply plateaued and this is as good as he gets and he never really adapts to the pro game. Time will tell.

Reminds me more of Denis Boytsov. Looked good but not spectacular against weak opposition, lost against someone who knew what he was doing.

Don't think he's another Audley yet but he isn't ready for Usyk.

Yep, it was well hidden at the time but some years after he admitted he was basically a coke addict throughout his pro career.

What has he had, 16 pro fights and he peaked? No way, he's still developing. Look at who Fury was struggling with as you mentioned around this time.

He's going to be a champion and took 5 undefeated fighters 0's. One tough fight which he won that featured an iffy knockdown in the form of punch for behind the head / throw down, a wet ring apron, and a rough clash of heads are things he had to endure. Not to mention he was off due to his father death. The combination of all to the above factored in to his performance.

Zhang is good. He is a raked as a top ten ring magazine contender. Most champions have struggled with less at one time or multiple times.

He is back in the gym, and has quite a rep among the fighters.

He needs to further devlop his jab which can be world class and learn a counter hook. He is switching trainers I and I hope he goes with an offensive minded guy that fits him, not a slick boxing type of trainer which he had. Tommy Brooks fits. But he is without a doubt very formidable because of that IMO the player haters are out with their torches and pick forks.

Unless I miss my guess, he is going to be very good. If Fury fights him, I tell you he going to beat him. If Usyk fights Hrgovic he's in for a fight and is going to be tested! He better not wait too long. It's better to catch a guy like him before he's full developed.

He’s not in Fraudley territory but the Zhang fight exposed him quite a bit. He’s not going to be the next anything. He’ll do well to be a rank 5-10 HW for the next few years.

Not all fighters develop though. Just look at Parker he stagnated for years and has never lived up to his potential.

I have my doubts about Hgrgovic, he's basically the same fighter now as when he first turned pro, maybe the Zhang fight will give him the impetuous to try something different and it will initiate a period of new development but it maybe that he's incapable now or unwilling to work on improving and work on the under developed aspects of his game.

What you say about Parker is the way I see the guy - has great potential, but seems it'll go without ever been fully developed. Hrgovic on the other hand has less. Maybe he still has time to improve up to his max, but this means he has to restart judging from his last performance. It's not the grumpy face and the physique that'll help him in future.

He has developed a lot since he has turned pro and has some untapped upside. Define what is under developed in his game. And who can exploited it? I will read and listen to your reply. Requesting details.

On Parker the man lacks a pair for the game. He lacks fire and no trainer can give chin that. He isn't 6'6'; with and 82 " reach like Hrgovic is, his reach is but 76" meaning he has to fight harder than he is. But he does not. He plays if safe. He's maxed out anyway and could not outbox the slower Joyce and end up KO'd. I think he much done and is now an opponent type for the better heavyweights.
