Filip Hrgovic vs Emir Ahmatovic.

I can't understand why Hrgovic and Babic are not fighting. They said in the past Babic is not on Hrgovic's level. While that may be the case, Babic would still be his best opponent so far. I don't know how popular boxing is in Croatia, but surely it would be a huge event?

 

Just no, Hgrovic stopped Amir Mansour in his th pro fight, when the later was still competitive (a draw with Washington and he had wom every round against Breazeale before quitting on his stool. At that time that was a legit win.
Babic is a crude bar brawler, but I agree that fighting him would be a great opportunity to raise his profile in the UK.

 

I liked Mansour, but not sure if he would beat Babic at the age of 46.

 

A guy named Emir Ahmatovic is hardly a Serb.

 

Ahmatović was literally born in Serbia, in the Raška District which has several thousand Muslims. So...yeah, having a name like that hardly means you can't be a Serb. (not in terms of ethnicity, but nationality)

Ahmatovic was born in Yugoslavia. His family migrated to Germany probably fleeing from the Yugoslav wars. His nationality was Yugoslav until that country existed, now it is likely German. And he is of Bosniak ethnicity. I see nothing Serbian about him, apart from the fact that his birthplace is now part of Serbia.

 

Wait did Babic make any offer to fight Hrgovic that Hrgo refused or is this something that fans are talking about?

I would find the former very disappointing.

 

Ahmatović himself considers Serbia his original and "other home" besides Germany where he grew up (and to which he is grateful for underwriting his amateur and now pro career), and stated that he wants to return to Belgrade - where he captured the GBU title in his last bout - to fight more often in the future.

 

Honestly Babic vs Hrgovic could be entertaining. Babic has the fire and the recklessness and Hrgovic has the rabbit punches.

Zhang called him out. It’s the most sensible fight possible if nobody else ranked will fight Hrgovic.

 

I want to see Wilder vs Hrgovich next, i think it would be a good fight for both.
