Well we'll find out pretty soon. IBF have sent a letter to both Hrgovic and Ortiz to begins talks for a final eliminator. Kalle has already publicly said yes to the fight, while Ortiz and his team have yet to reply.

I suspect it won't happen, Ortiz's track record is clear he doesn't take risky fights for little money and PBC prefer to keep things in house unless there's big money on the table.

Let's see if Ortiz want that smoke.

    I think not.

He prefer to fight Arreola or someone like him

I'm waiting for the "We didn't receive letter." or " My management didn't tell me again and made a mistake in refusing."

But I get why he wouldn't fight Hrgovic if he makes more money say against Ruiz instead. Ortiz/Ruiz is a pretty good fight too and would be more lucrative even if it doesn't get him a title shot.

Hrgovic should dispatch him, though he'd need to be careful not to walk onto one of the old man's counter lefts. Those things still pack dynamite.

I'd prefer to see Joyce vs Ortiz right now though.

I respect Ortiz, but Hrgovic will crush him...

I'm pretty sure it was Whyte's end that was responsible for the fight with Ortiz not happening.

Not the eliminator time, that when Ehyte opted to fight a better fighter for more money either Parker or Chisors at time.

Ortiz reported turned the chance to fight Whyte whilst he was under Matchroom.

In reality we don't know who was responsible for the fight not happening. What we do know is Whyte was mandated ton fight Pulev first and so when the WBC mandated Whyte/Ortiz for the 2nd mandatory he was already in the process of making the Pulev fight only for that to not happen because Matchroom lost the purse bid.

We also know that Hearn wanted the WBC to mandate the fight for the mandatory position and not the 2nd mandatory position. We also know they clearly didn't come to terms and we know the WBC didn't mandate a purse bid when they failed to come to agreement like they usually would.

We also know Whyte announced Parker soon after. It's likely they already had Parker in mind and would not alter that unless the WBC did change their mind and make it for the mandatory position. But we also don't know if even had the WBC changed their mind if that would of changed Whyte's intention to fight Parker especially considering Parker was a more lucrative match up and Whyte seems more motivated by money than titles if I'm honest.

I personally think it was a case of neither fighter really wanting it. Ortiz talks big but he ducked AJ twice and ducked Ustinov, going as far to buy out his contract with Goldenboy to avoid that eliminator. Whyte too talks a lot but when he's been offered 2 titles shots now he seems to get caught up in the money side of things which is why he didn't fight Joshua when given the chance and is now embroiled in lengthy negotiations and an arbitration with the WBC.

Ortiz is a shell of himself. Hrgovic will take him out inside 3 rounds.

Ortiz beating Hrgovic at this stage in his career seems pretty unlikely. Hrgovic is likely better than anyone he beat in his prime and he seems to be in decline

Ortiz ducked Hrgovic, as was to be expected. (The tweet above is 2 days old.)

Ortiz didn't have much choice but to take it. Likely as tough an ask as Usyk the belt holder.
