Fellow countryman and amateur prospect Filip Hrgovic has qualified himself to the Rio Olympics in 2016. He won the euro championship and has good wins in the amateurs, including 2 decision wins over Anthony Joshua conqueror Mihai Nistor. :deal How far do you think he'll get in the pros if he makes the transition after the Olympics? :think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtI-_PI3WJM
I like him a lot I think he has a ton of potential as a pro. Filip Hrgović is a 6'6 23 year old Super Heavyweight with a 26-4? 11? KO's WSB record. Born in Zagreb, Croatia. Already selected to compete in the 2016 Brazilian Olympics, and recently named the March 2015 Fighter of the Month from AIBA. Filip has a ton of potential, he's incredibly agile for a big man, he's incredibly light on his feet, he's got a nice jab, fast hands, good footwork, sharp uppercut, solid overhands, and based on his competition so far he appears to have a very good chin, so all around he has the makings of the total package. He's already built up a reputation in sparring, he is the man responsible for David Haye Vs Tyson Fury being called off, it was he that cut Haye's eyebrow open. And he was one of Kubrat Pulev's sparring partners in the run up to the Wlad match. He has a win over Joseph Parker, Sergey Kuzmin, Rostyslav Arkhypenko and Abdulkadir Abdullayev thus far and his losses are nothing to be ashamed of, he lost to Robert Cammarelle one of the best amateur HW's there is, and very close points losses to Dychko and Omarov. It'll be at least a little over a year in late 2016 before he turns pro, but we should all keep close track of him, because he's one to watch. So Check Out The Heavyweight Monster Of Zagreb. He's big and he was fun to watch in the WSB. He was surprisingly beaten by Yoka in de World Championship last month. I hope he turns pro after Rio (He's the biggest favourite for a gold medal), because he's got the style for it.
If he gets the gold, he'll have money thrown at him. Thing is, there's a lot of good young HWs either already pro, or turning pro soon. The post Klitschko era is going to be extremely competitive
Dont think he will be good enough for anything serious, doubt he will be as good as Mavrovic was...shame we didnt see his sparring vs Haye but for me he looks a bit slow. Yoka Tony beat him almost outclassing him wasnt even close. Pozdrav iz Crne Gore
Yeah Mavrovic was a great technical boxer with a cast iron chin. Lewis rated him as his most awkward fight, whatever that means. Takodjer. :good
