ALL HAIL JHACK TEPORA! Second-round knockout win against Lusanda Komanisi in a big step up in his first fight outside the Philippines. Sky-rockets from my 7th ranked prospect to 3rd. This kid has destructive power. Now 21-0 (16 KOs).

Bringing this back. Just going to use this as a thread for myself, mostly, since I know there isn't a lot of fans of Filipino boxing out here. Just a sad state for the Filipino boxing scene since Manny retired. Another loss tonight in a world title eliminator for 2-time world champ Vic Saludar. It was competitive but he lost clearly to Oscar Collazo who seems like the real deal and a future world champ.

Yeah very sad to see that Philippines doesn’t have any champions anymore, but it is what it is. It’s similar to Panama where they’ve had many great champions from that country but now there isn’t any.

Like Ive been saying there’s bound to be another Filipino that’ll come around at some point. But it’ll be a long time until we get another superstar as great as Pacquiao. It’s rare to see an Asian athlete break into international stardom but time will tell. We can only hope.

It’s the end of an era for Filipino boxing it seems. Pac is retired and I don’t think Donaire or Nietes have anything else left to prove. We should really appreciate Pacquiao, Donaire, and Nietes for what they’ve done in the sport. All of them are ATGs and a lock for the IBHOF. That’s something that the Philippines should be very happy about.

Its been a huge privilege watching my fellow countrymen fight.

It all just happened so quick. Loss after loss after loss. Only really big win was Magsayo over Russell but even that was looked down on because of his struggles when Russell ran and fought with one arm. And then he ended up losing it in his first defense. *Sigh*

Most definitely. All should remain retired but Nonito could get a trinket or two if he wants. He's still the second best at 118 with Naoya moving up soon and I think he can beat any of the 115 titlists.

Donnie Nietes has never been given the recognition he deserves.

He's one of the greatest fighters of the 21st century so far, yet he is often overlooked by the boxing writers in America and UK.

I’ve never been a believer of Magsayo to be honest. He’s always been a predictable, one dimensional fighter who was gonna lose big time. It seems like there’s not enough talented Filipino fighters unfortunately.

Pacquiao is a very rare breed, the kind of fighter that comes once in a lifetime. We should at least be happy that a fighter like him came from the Philippines and created some great memories for the sport. He’s without a doubt the greatest Asian boxer, that already says a lot.

He didn’t have great management unfortunately. Still, Nietes’ longevity as a champion, especially in 4 of the lowest weights is very impressive. It’s just a shame that he wasn’t able to secure a match with the big dogs like Choco, Gallo, or SSR. The fact that he was able to beat Ioka the first time around at his age is still astonishing.

ALA Promotions failed him. Thought he was finally going to get recognition when he went on HBO Boxing's last card, or at least one of the last ones, and stopped Reveco. Then he vacated his belt because he didn't want to rematch Palicte and it all went downhill from there.

Had his lone world title shot at 19 years old. Managed to get a knockdown on Kyoguchi too!

Japan boxing is on a rice. Good to see. As per Filipino boxing. Skills are the problem. Specially the defensive deficiency or lack there of defense. Pinoy power are not enough if you can't hit the target and getting hit as a result. So this is what needs upgrading. The horrific defense and accuracy lol. Seen the fight yesterday the Saludar kid. I understand Bisaya because I am Bisaya. Trainer was screaming to keep his hands up. "taas kamot" And the boy Saludar kept dropping his hands low etc. Very basic and simple instruction and he didn't do it. Bad habits like that leads to knock outs. Also he was told to move. "hawa diha" get out or off the ropes. The kid did not do it and stayed there getting clobbered. I thought he had heart and was just lacking some fire and defense.

Yes I’m happy to see Japan has been consistently having champions and great talents. Japan is what’s really keeping Asian boxing alive right now.

I think the problem with Filipinos that are taking up boxing right now is the fact that everyone wants to be like Pacquiao, so they want to be trained with Freddy Roach or anyone that’s associated with the Wild Card Gym. You really can’t teach them how to fight like Pacquiao, especially with all the technical flaws that he’s had even in his prime. It’s like trying to imitate Roy Jones Jr or Ali, it can’t be replicated. Basic fundamentals should be taught, and they shouldn’t overly rely on power.

Filipinos should try and follow the examples of Gerry Penalosa, who was a very technical Filipino fighter.
