Filipino Boxing: Champs, Contenders, Prospects

My #6 prospect in Alie Laurel lost in a rematch against former conqueror Ernesto Saulong. He drops out of my list to make way for the 21 year old Jhaleel Payao at #10, a super flyweight who already has a solid scalp on his resume in Rene Dacquel.

Great win by Eden, not enough to crash my Top 10 contenders list, but he's close.

 

It certainly has a good shot in winning it. :good

 

That's good to hear, especially since I haven't seen any vids of Payao.

Seems like the fight has been cancelled.

 

Huge upset in the Philippines today, Jason Canoy (now 24-5-2, 18 KO) stopped Drian Francisco (now 27-3-1, 21 KO) in the first round! Prior to the fight, Francisco had only suffered competitive decision loses to Chris Avalos and Tepparith Kokietgym respectively. Canoy, a solid fighter by domestic standards, had wins over solid domestic competition in Cinderella fighters Rey Loreto & Gerpaul Valero and prospects Giovanni Escaner & Juren Labordo.

 

So much for Melindo! Rey Loreto enters at #10 in my contenders rankings.
