before anyone worries about whether a $ vs emmanuel fight will happen, how is emmanuel doing in his campaign for politics? Is he beating his competition? If he gets elected I can see him saying **** it due to the difficulty in negotiations and just retiring into politics.:think

I asked my wife they haven't released any real preliminary polls. They better hope Manny loses. The only time there's a guaranteed ceasefire between the Islamic seperatists and the government forces is when he fights.2 guaranteed ceasefires a year right out the window should he win and retire.

****, that is crazy. Do you not think that Manny could be a factor in peace between Christians and Muslims? How bad is the relationship over there between the 2 religions?

well... most of the time, they try to kill each other if they see a chance. it's not really christians vs muslims though. there's just a faction of muslims that wanted to have a gov't separate from the current gov't of the whole country (in short, they want to be their own separate country). it just rebel muslims vs the philippine army...

he ran for office last time and lost... i hope he loses again this time. being a gov't official is just not for him IMO. unfortunately, i've heard from this local (philippine) news that he's leading the survey.

How bad is the situation? Thailand has been in the British news recently due to political conflict. Is it any worse in Philippines?

I hope he wins. He only plans to fight a few more times anyways, and he should be able to fit that in his schedule. I hear the province that he is running for does not have any major metropolitans, and is more relaxed.

the Muslims in the south have been trying to get a seperate autonomous region since the Philippine American war.Hell, before that they were fighting the spanish for it.My wife is from the southern part but swears that her city is safe.Aside from a few kidnappings here and there but those are pretty much organized crime/communist rebel issues.

manny is really the only thing that gets the whole country to stop what the **** it's doing and watch for 48 minutes(or in the case of the Hatton fight,20 adding ring walks and anthems).Obviously he can't fight forever but you think us keyboard fans will be pissed if that Mayweather fight doesn't happen? lol. I'm just glad I can't go to the PI because the military deems it too risky.

I don't think it's the whole country, but only a very small fraction of it on the southwestern portion.

Not a factor at all. Manny is uneducated. I have not heard anything from him, translated or otherwise that suggests he has the wisdom or leadership to bring a people together, let alone a divisive force such as religion when he clearly practices Catholicism over Islam. Gandhi could not do it. Pac will be as ineffective as most Filipino politicians.

It's hard to see how charismatic he is since English isn't his first language, but how charismatic does he come across when he's working in his native tongue?:think

Thailand is still a monarchy if i recall and they've had continual govt turnovers. The Philippines has been attempting to un**** itself since the Marcos regime in the early 70s but there always seems to be one thing after another.Corruption or assassinations or the like. It's not exactly stable but it's holding together fairly well.

The interesting thing that I've noticed is while their current president uses Manny as a symbol and has donned him a national hero and whatnot,he's running for candidacy under the opposing political party. So the guy he's allied with who's running for president is against the current government. So it remains to be seen just how ****ed they are as a country if that guy wins and the corruption continues.

My wife has said for his human faults,Manny is one of the nicest guys and gives to the poor.A lot. He's humble and hasn't forgotten what it's like to starve so he's sincere in trying to help them.
