No, I said Underdog does and you don't. Seriously, I have only ever seen you post rubbish on Pac threads. Underdog talks about a variety of fighters from different weight classes, not just pac mate. I have got no reason to be biased about this either, thats my honest opinion.

 

Yes. I want you to prove to me, WITHOUT A DOUBT, that he is the ONLY fighter in history across the world to ever use that style. Otherwise you are WRONG.

 

Here I will break it down for you. The article on Wiki says it is "believed" that it "influenced" modern boxing. There is no factual information behind it, it merely states a belief (HELD BY WHO?) that it influenced modern boxing. It doesn't research or talk about other influences, particular examples of where it made a noticable change to modern boxing, but rather makes a lot of generalisations regarding beliefs. This is about as FAR from FACT AS YOU CAN GET. It is simply one writers take on the beliefs held by some, of which it doesn't even state who holds these beliefs. It doesn't present counter arguements, or other influences, or even show the timeline on which it believes boxing has evolved. YOu have TOTALLY TAKEN IT OUT OF CONTEXT.

 

This post here is total crap. One persons extremely biased tale of how their personal belief is that Pinoy martial arts formed modern boxing. The fact that they interview a Pinoy about it, yet Chimba you have taken it as objective gospel to me is ****ing priceless. He states, that Flash is the first person to use Ali's style. But if Ali didn't learn it from him then how did he use the exact same style? To try and say that out of all the boxers world wide over hundreds of years that he was the very first to use it is just beyond a joke. To try and say that it was the exact style that Ali used is a complete joke. I have no problem admitting that Pinoy martial arts and techniques may have influenced boxing at some stage, but to try and claim that it was the major influence on modern boxing is ludicrous.

 

Th title is miss leading...Filipinos DID NOT invent modern Boxing. even the articles posted points to that. but they did influence a part of boxing which is the style used by slick boxers(Ali,SRL). But there also more styles in boxing that the slick style there swarmers, counter punchers and many more. just because you influenced a part of something doesn't mean you invented the whole thing.

 

So because one person (a kung fu practioner at that) claims that pinoy martial arts were the sole influence on modern boxing, that to you represents fact. HAHAHA. Classic. Okay, well I am one person. I am going to claim that australian boomerang throwing influenced modern boxing by giving fighters mystical powers provided they could catch the boomerang. And now its fact because I said it. Right?

 

Exactly. I actually already knew this from when I practised martial arts. That they had an influence. But the level of exaggeration that came from it is sickening. I have no problem at all admiting that it probably influenced it at some point, although IMO, it would have been refined 1000% by boxers over decades of training and experimenting in sparring.

 

I just have proved you wrong. Are you illiterate as well as ridiculously biased? He is Whiter then you? Thats your arguement. That is the stupidest thing i have heard in a long time. You are a complete nuthugger of all things Pinoy obviously. I respect pride in your country. I am a proud Aussie, but it doesn't mean I am dellusional. I don't think Katsidis is the p4p no1, and I certainly don't take exerts from articles about Australia completely out of context, blow them out of proportion and then try to claim them as fact.

 

No. Look, other guys here respect you, and I haven't really seen much of your posts, so maybe I am misjudging you. The stuff I have seen in recent times has all been about Pac, which leads me to believe that you are another nuthugger on the boards. Maybe not, but threads like this don't do you any favours. This particular thread IMO is complete rubbish. I think you are looking at it the way you want to see it, and not objectively. Anyway, your entitled to your opinion, I just personally firmly disagree with it. I have read a lot of Underdogs posts are very objective usually, which is why I defended him to a point. I just hate nuthuggers who support one fighter only. Apologies for any insults in there, its just a bit of a sore point on these boards for me.

Some time ago, I've also read the article Chimba posted, and it was a nice read. But I didnt believe everything written there. Filipino martial arts MAY have influenced boxing to some extent, but I didnt take the article as gospel truth.

Anyway, I read somewhere that Muhammad Ali once said in an interview that Gene Tunney was his biggest boxing influence and Tunney's skills were ahead of his time. He said he patterned a lot of his style from Tunney.

The lateral movement, footwork, piston jabs and potshotting of Ali was inspired by Tunney.
