The exact point I was trying to raise. That you can't take one persons opinon, especially someone with some form of agenda (both a pinoy and a martial arts practitioner) and expect it to be remotely objective. There are far to many variables, and whilst it is an interesting read, I would need to see something FAAARRRR more comprehensive before I were to consider it fact.
so you admit you exagerrated and i disagreed with your exagerrated topic title. there is absolutely nothing wrong with that chimba. if your title stated filipinos influenced moeedern boxing, as i've said before, i will wholeheartedly agree. but you blew it out of proportion as you said filipinos invented modern boxing and you questioned my pinoy roots when i dsagreed. what the hell's wrong with you? i am pinoy but i don't have to agree with all the **** that's coming from other pinoys.
And Im Pinoy too, MSTR. I'm proud of our Arnis/escrima stick fighting martial arts. And I have no doubt that we have influenced fighting styles in general, as well as boxing, to a certain extent. Arnis is grace, quickness and power rolled into one. Great to watch. :nod
I've watched practioners of it before, some of it is extremely lethal, especially the knife and stick fighting. I respect your martial arts, I actually believe it is one of the few truely effective martial arts that exist.
I just gave about 3 pages worth of reasons. Read that and then get back to me with your counter arguement. If its going to be dribble please do not bother.
He is a good poster. You are too. One post he made or a post on one subject isn't going to change that. It may not be defensible, and perhaps you should argue about the post. But not about who is Pinoy more.
nope they didnt invent it, but basing on that article the filipinos contributed or had a big influence on how boxing stylewise is today. No need to exaggerate, no need to hate.
If everyone will just read the whole thread first before commenting on the title, Chimba did mention that he exaggerated on the title to get attention. He might have been successful on getting the attention but the comments are not pleasing because of the title.
it was his fault that most comments were negative. he came off as being cocky because of his exaggeration.
i don't try to appease non-filipinos. i couldn't care less if they side with me or not. you posted a fact, true. but then you admitted to have exagerrated. i mocked your title because it was stupid. you should have thought of it before you posted it. and the excuse that you deliberately exaggerated to get more replies was stupid. having three replies in a smart thread is worth much more than having 100 replies in a stupid thread. quality over quantity brother. you could have shown us all your knowledge about how filipinos affect boxing as it is today but then you had to start with that crazy title which turned many posters away thinking that "ow ****, just another crazy thread from filipino posters". you had a real chance to tell them that filipinos have influenced boxing which was great but you blew it because you wanted more replies. many filipinos are being treated like **** in this site. after a stupid post by a 1 stupid filipino poster, some guy would say "all you people are stupid" and it's people who exaggerate like what yiou just did cause this. what's the difference with what to you said to pacdbest saying that pacquiao would ko pbf at 145? they're both exaggerated statements and they rub off badly. people here think taht all filipinos think like that. i repeat, i do not care less how non-filipinos think of me. i do care about how they see us as a people. there are many good filipino posters in this site, guyslike bulakenyo etc are great people with knowledge about boxing but sadly the loud ones are getting all the attention. i know you meant well chimba. pinoy tayong lahat pare. i understand what you are trying to do and i applaud the fact that you try to tell everyone how great our nation is. but please asses before you drop a thread like this. filipino posters are getting less and less respect out here because of the pac nuthugging. it's perfectly fine to be proud of what we have, i am and i'm sure you are too. but please be more careful next time. we're walking on thin ice here. little slip ups lead to disastrous generalizations about our whole nation. i feel that somehow, we are representing our country here and the the least we could do is represent well. if i have offended you in anyway, my apologies, i should have presented it in a more gentlemanly way. again my apologies. i know you get my drift chimba. i know you understand what i just said.
Wow you have taken this post out of control and for those who have, it shows ignorance. Even KG who is one to be respected agreed with me. This is what I said...Filipinos influenced Modern Boxing as we know it....!!! People forget that The U.S. have been stationed to the Philippines since the 1st world war. Is there any wonder why the US navy boxed so well at the time ??? Also for a country who was a million miles away fro the US..Why is it that there are more famous fighters Filipino Fighters then than it is now...Villa, Moro, Garcia...why of all the minorities..we were able to compete.??? As for Bulakenyo...what era did Tunney fight??? I mean what years??? Wow what a coiincidence... Give me a something to contradict..or even who really influenced it "Dancing, Lateral movement style" Instead of bashing show me any article.....
