    Hey guys.
I have a heavy bag, which is filled with a thick layer of foam around the center, with a plastic tube in the middle filled with iron rods, and a wooden base right at the bottom to keep the plastic tube from splitting through.
I feel it isn't solid enough or really heavy enough for my needs.
I was thinking of making it like this:
    Thinner layer of foam around.
Bags of play sand down the middle.
Would that make it stuffed enough? Would I need to fill in the holes between the bags with rags and stuff? I think I would.
I like the feeling of solid-ness in my gym's bags, but my one is too soft. It's heavy enough, but soft.

How are bags in proper gyms filled? They have that heavy and solid feel, without being concrete.

Try filling the thing with just sand.

Wouldn't that make it solid as ****? Which isn't necessarily very good.
    And a ***** to move/fill.

Don't use sand! We have used old clothes, soil, carpet and foam mixtures before.

On a related note. My son has one that has gotten very hard around the bottom, like it has settled. Since he likes to kick the thing also, he wants to soften up the bottom. I saw a picture of Kelly Pavlik beating the crap out of one with a ball bat. Think this would help or is there something else I should try?
