I am looking at buying a heavy bag from to mount @ home. The ones I have been looking at is shipped empty and requires filling.

Now I know you fill the bag with sand.... Anyone got some more specific advice - - eg. what type of sand? Surely I dont just dig up the back yard, or drive up to the building yard & say - fill her up :huh

I've seen this question asked before on here, and the first thing I wonder is...why don't you just buy the bag already filled?

If you want sand, go to the hardware store and buy however many sacks of builders sand (the most refined and cleanest sand) required to fill it.

But still I wonder, why not just buy it already filled :huh

I used to work for Jim Bradley when I was a kid, actually filling punching bags. They use off-cuts from clothing production and press them with a hydraulic machine. Never use sand.
Bodyfirst Fitness make better bags than Jim Bradley and they're about 20% cheaper. I bought mine at Workout World.
