I didn't think the punch was that great at first, but the overhead view changed my mind. Just a perfect shot

That's strange, I thought I saw George turn his shoulder there. I think George might have already hurt him, all it took was a solid shot direct and it was over. Either way, Moorer looked out...either that or he should have taken up acting. I know when a fighter's goofing around on the floor, trying to pull something (we all probably do here). Whatever landed, Michael got knocked out.

George won the title, he was the oldest ever to do so, and he did it in a fashion that wasn't exactly surprising.

We all might keep in mind that George could be a master at conserving his swings (granted not as often as he should have) and getting maximum leverage out of a short punch. I blame it on chopping down trees. Frazier could have the same ability and he trained not dissimilarly.

That video is poorly done first of all, I could barely make it through it.. Second, there was nothing lucky about that punch. The first right hurt Moorer, the second right finished the job.

It's pretty common knowledge that it wasn't a lucky punch. Moorer ignored Atlas's pleas to stop standing in front of Big George. The rest is history

Another example of Mark Ant starting a thread to tell us something we all already know. Lol.

    I admire his passion, but.....

Perhaps a more fecund topic would center around Ali-Liston 2 and that punch.

Tommy Morrison was smarter than Moorer...he never stood right in front of Big George...stuck to his battle plan.

That fight was bizarre to me. I couldn't believe Mercer slaughtered Morrison and Foreman didn't (quicker).

Because Mercer wasn't wearing cement boots like geriatric Foreman. There hasn't ever been an elite heavy who was slower of foot than Old George. Tommy, himself no master of footwork or stamina, could turn tail and run to other side of the ring to buy himself time. Try that with Mercer, or just about any other elite heavy under 40, and he would have been creamed.

Watching the fight the tactic was subtle but it looked like Foreman was setting something up I remember thinking when I watched the fight....up until the KO Moorer was superb....but lets remember that not only did Foreman say he was trying to set up a KO but Teddy Atlas kept warning Moorer in the corner that Foreman was setting him up

Moorer has stated this repeatedly, and I believe maintains that position to this day. But yeah he's like the only one. Even Teddy Atlas knows that George was setting Moorer up.
