Don't forget Pascal decked Hopkins twice in the first 3 rounds in their first fight.

Imagine if something similar would've happened.

    :yepVery well put.

Everything you stated. The highlighted being the most significant.

Hopkins found out very quickly that he was'nt doing and could'nt do anything that would confuse a focused Dawson.
The key word being focused, because Dawson came ready and focused last night, and just as many opponents have done against Hopkins (mentally quit)....Hopkins took it to the next level and literally quit.:deal

Lets be real here, In Dawson, Hopkins was dealing with a young big lightheavyweight that when focused is the complete package.

I'll go as far as to say that Hopkins has'nt fought as complete a fighter as Dawson since he first fought Roy Jones Jr. eons ago.

Opponents like Calzaghe and Wright lacked the size and punching power to make a caliber fighter like Hopkins uncomfortable.

Dawson had it all. Quickness, speed, size, height, reach, punching power, and enough of the skill to go along with it to make a 46 year old Bernard Hopkins tricks rendered useless.

A few of us in this forum anticipated that Hopkins was in over his head vs Dawson, and we were right.

Dawson was just getting started and Hopkins being the smart boxing man that he is, knew it.:deal

lol you can pat yourself on the back but that's about all the credit you'll get, cause the fight ended on an injury when Dawson pushed Hopkins to the ground.

No my friend, Hopkins quit, even quite a few of his fans in this forum are stating he bitched out, so that should tell you something.

Overwhelming majority think that should've been ruled a NC

and even higher percentage than those who picked Hopkins to win in this poll

Who gives a ****. I think most refs would have ruled it a no-contest as well. Under the circumstances, the tko victory will likely be taken away and the fight ruled a no-contest......but it still does'nt take away the fact that most of us, even Hopkins fans know that he bitched out of the fight.

True. Also, the overwhelming majority think that Hopkins got what he deserved.

Also true. I even picked Hopkins to win. But picking a winner doesn't really mean anything. Most people picked DLH by destruction before the fight with Pacquiao. You just make a calculated assumption based on a fighter's recent form and performances vs specific fighters. After what I saw in this fight, even as short as it was, I'm giving Dawson a much higher chance to beat Hop in a potential rematch.

You could see it coming. This was the focused and emotional version of Dawson who fought Adamek. Hopkins went into Calzaghe mode and was hoping to steal some points here and there, and at the point he met an opportunity to get out of the fight, he did so.

There's a reason he avoided Dawson for as long as he did.

It's just so easy to connect the dots:

Hopkins has problems with guys like Dawson
Hopkins avoids Dawson during Dawson's title reign
Hopkins is contractually bound to face Dawson after Pascal II
Hopkins looks terrible in the first two rounds
Hopkins exits the fight at the first convenient moment
