I was'nt going to make an official pick for this fight, but you've pressured me into it.....:D

Its not an easy one to breakdown. Both are great fighters, and its just going to come down to who can execute there plan better.

I've heard alot of people say Pac should stay away from a war, and that he should be darting in and out against Cotto. Kind of like the gameplan that Pac used vs DLH.....

I dont think thats going to be a good idea against Cotto.

Cotto has very underrated boxing skills. I believe his skills are significantly better than DLH's, who I always felt was overrated in term of boxing technique and skill.

To win, Cotto needs to box. Lead with the jab and constantly have Pacquiao backing up with it.

Whenever Pacquiao throws his left, Cotto has to be ready to uncork a right hand counter over it.

Imo, for Pacquiao to win, he's going to have to be very busy with his hands. Constantly be throwing punches.....High workrate type of fightplan for Pacquiao.

I dont think that throwing two and three punches and out is going to work against Cotto. I dont believe that darting in and out strategy will suceed because he'd be giving Cotto time to think and strategize during the round (Cotto imo is significantly smarter to adjust during a round.)

For Pac to win, imo he has to fight what I call a smart War. By that, I mean throw lots of fast punches within 10 and 15 second spans, not just two's and threes.

When you have alot of punches reigning in on you, its alot harder to strategize and think.
Pac needs to get Cotto's respect early, and fight at a high enough workrate where Cotto feels the need to War to win rounds.....
Thats the key for Pacquiao, he needs to get Cotto into a war. Make Cotto expend alot of energy early in the fight.
I believe Pacquiao has better staying power and is just has better stamina, that if a War ensues, Pacquiao is going to be the stronger fighter down the stretch.
.......and not only that, if punches are flying at mid to close quarters, Pacquiao's are faster and will land first.

    My pick????:D

The fight can go either way......but my gut feeling tells me that Cotto is smart enough to recognize that he must be patient and fight smart.

Cotto will work behind his jab and drop just enough hard right hands to both Pacquiao's head and body to keep Pac hesitant to implement an all out attack.
Pac will try to box with Cotto, but imo to no avail.

A KO is likely for Cotto if Pac gets desperate late and runs into a big shot.

I believe the fight will go to the cards, and the winner will be Cotto by legit decision or Pacquiao if he keeps it competitive enough by political decision.

I just dont have any respect for official judges. If this fight goes to a decision, forums like this will be better indicators of who the winner really was.

I say forums like this will say Cotto won the fight. If polls say Pac won, I'll applaud him for a job well done.:good

Of course it can just as easily go the other way.......Cotto is a good boxer, but he's not a natural counterpuncher which is the style thats better suited to exploit Pacquiao's weaknesses......

Erik Morales was'nt a natural counterpuncher either, and he thoroughly was able to outbox Pacquiao for most of their first fight.

Forget the judges decision, Cotto will win this boxing forums decision imo!:D

Unfortunately Pac wins by stoppage in mid rounds like 5-7 area.

Cotto lost something against Marg and is vulnerable, especially at the catchweight, no wonder Roach is so confident.

The problem with legend flex, is that they are usually at the end of their careers when they are finally labeled as "legends". Cotto is in his prime and a tough, tough opponent for any fighter. I believe that Pac has what it takes to beat cotto, especially with roach in his corner and training him to exploit cottos deficiencies, but in my honest oppinion, cotto takes him out in the later rounds. I can see cotto getting cut however and this could also aid pac in getting the win.

****, this is tough one. Keep going back and forth. 2/1 for Cotto are great odds though and are definitely tempting me to put a few quid on him. I think ill wait til i hear what Barry McGuigan thinks before i make any rash decisions.
