This should be a very interesting fight.

Canelo is a superb fighter and his countering and slipping skills are second to none. His chin has benefitted greatly from being at a higher weight and he managed to withstand some absolute bombs from Golovkin. His footwork is better. He has the momentum, and that seems to mean a lot in boxing.

Jacobs on the other hand is clearly far more durable than he ever was. His strong points against Canelo specifically are his movement - Canelo doesn't like movers - and his ability to fire off bursts of punches.Golovkin suited Canelo is one main sense, in that Golovkin is a very measured fighter. That measured pace allowed Canelo to conserve his gas tank and match his countering to GGG's offence. It will be a lot harder to slip and counter bursts of punches instead of a probing jab and a systematic attack. I think Jacobs' size will be somewhat problematic for Canelo, because Danny is a very rangey fighter and hits very hard. It might be difficult to land ad lib against the extra length of Jacobs.

Where I don't fancy Jacobs is that his blows are often clubbing. Canelo will find it easier to slip those than fast straight shots. I think Jacobs will need to vary his attack (and he himself has a strong body attack) or Canelo will get comfortable and counter his head off.

I disagree with people saying Canelo stops Jacobs, especially late. Canelo has not got the gas tank Jacobs has got, and I think if anybody is fading late it will be ginger. Jacobs was nearly 4lb overweight on the 170lb limit (going to cost him 360k) and the extra size will help. I think Canelo rules the early rounds and Jacobs the later ones. It will be extremely interesting if Jacobs tries the same drill on Canelo as he did on Quillin. I rate Jacobs highly.

Personally I expect a good exciting fight; I think Jacobs will land more and Canelo will have the flashier moments.

It's going to the cards, and if it does, barring a KD on Jacobs' part, he's going to lose to Uncle Oscar's "special judges".

There's a reason Canelo is so heavily favoured, and the extra points he gets from the home cooking puts him as a clear favourite for a UD.

Going with the safe bet and picking Canelo via decision in a fight he loses 7 rounds maybe 8.

Oh if it goes to the cards 80% of posters and media will say the same thing regardless of how the fight actually goes....

Welcome to boxing and the NBA where every loss is because of the officials lol

Yeah, Jacobs seemed like the truth when he was an amateur and a young pro! Pirog and the health issues really derailed him, and I think his people dragged his comeback tour along too slowly (just my uninformed two cents).

I'll have to rewatch those fights but I didn't think Jacobs did as well as you did. I thought Golovkin clearly outscored him. Can't find my scorecard but I'm pretty sure I gave him at least 7 rounds. I'm also pretty sure I had Pirog up before the stoppage, but I could be mistaken.

I think the GGG fight could be scored 7-5 or a 3 pt win...to 7-5 Jacobs or a 1 pt win. Or anywhere in between? 2 judges had it 7-5 the other 6-6 all for GGG.

Pirog? All 3 judges had it 39-37 for Jacobs. Me too, for whatever that is worth. I did think rd 2 Pirog should have scored a KD as well but the ref didn’t rule it one.

Canelo will ko Jacobs in the 10th and you'll still claim canelo got a gift... Get over your obsession already, diva.

Boxing could have the most powerful officials in all sports. Forget 2 points by NBA officials in a game where 180+ points are typically scored. These people can shave a round or two, and change the winner of the fight. One guy could clearly outscore the other and lose the fight on the judge's scorecards. The officials are picked by the Nevada commission, who has a huge interest in Canelo fighting in Las Vegas. This will be Canelo's 12th fight in Las Vegas. He brings in the $$$.

See any conflicts of interest here? For big fights, I'd like to see both parties agree to 8 possible judges and see a lottery like pull for the three officials 48 hours before the fight. This would mitigate the chance judge fixing and scorecard Tom foolery which of course is often exposed in a round where one guy clearly outlands where no one big punch was landed.

You could say the fight will be much better than the score cards here. Jacobs if he doesn't get sucked in close can win.

Bad duding by the way is not confined to Canelo fights. Wilder vs Fury was BS. You called that one a draw, correct?

You seem to be on the minority side of what the media sees as the winner and agreeing more than me on obviously bad score cards.

Canelo by KO. Should be a fantastic fight and really is a 50/50 but I think Canelo is more skilled and I believe his counter punching puts Jacobs to sleep before round 10

I do see a conflict of interest in a majority of media and commentary and fans who don’t like Golden Boy or Canelo and then....wow....they didn’t think he won....you know after they predicted he wouldn’t and all lol.

We both see a different conflict of interest it would seem.

Great idea. If it was up to me all 8 judges open an envelope at ringside to find out whether they're judging or not.

Jacobs could win this, but Canelo should win this.

I like Danny and have since he was a green prospect. Yet for all his height, length and skill he is very inconsistent and undisciplined. If he would stick to a plan and listen to his corner he could be right there with Canelo and GGG.

Just rewatched the GGG and Pirog fights as a prelude for this. The GGG fight he did very well, and I had it 6-6 in rds with the KD sealing GGG’s win. In the 6 rounds he won he stuck to the plan and listened to his corner. Box him don’t slug with him. In the 6 rounds he lost he got drawn into a fight and forgot the plan...and unfortunately lost after a solid performance.

Against Pirog same thing. After winning rd 1 he gets trapped on the ropes and loses wide. He should have had a KD count against him but the ref didn’t call it. His corner yells at him stay off the ropes it’s not good for you there. Box him and back him up he can’t fight backwards. For 3-4 he does just that and is up 39-37 on my card and all 3 judges. In 5 he goes to the ropes and gets KO’d.

When he is focused he is top notch and can hold his own....but he is maddeningly inconsistent and undisciplined and most likely that won’t get him a win tonight.

I would love to see Jacobs win, and if he fights smart he may surprise us....but it is not the likely pick

If anything the media, if they want to cover Oscar and his Golden Goose named Canelo better say positive things about his fighter on air. Las Vegas will continue to roll out the carpet for Canelo who seems scandal proof and has had bad judging go his way. Tonight will be his 12th fight in LAs Vegas. They live to see 8 more.

The shame of it all is Canelo is a very good fighter, even if he was busted for PED's and the delay in the 2nd fight with Golovkin likely benefited him as Golovkin was already past his prime.

Sources like ESPN Mexico called GGG vs. Canelo a draw. The people who felt Caneo won in the media were mostly Mexicans or connected to Oscar in a business sense felt Canelo won.

I'm sure there are some in the media tired of this act and don't like Canelo, but that was earned by his actions, the commission who picked the judges and Oscar himself. I see that side too.

I hope Jacobs holds the line. Hope he doesn't try to win it going away. He can squabble while he goes back, sure, but if he tries to win it on the move I think he gets moidered. I think if he gets his strategy bang-on he can win. But I think he'll get moved around in too many rounds. I think he'll drop a close legit decision. I hope Jacobs wins though for some reason.
