Just read Jermell plans to come in ~163-165. That's a really good approach...reminds me of Manny. The only advantage Jermell will have is presumably speed and that gets negated by adding muscle. Instead of putting on muscle it seems Jermell is just having a normal camp without the weight cut. Its a great plan. My pick is still Canelo UD but this could be more competitive as Charlo appears to have a good approach and Canelo is indeed declining. We'll see... Also, on a very side note...Derrick James trains Charlos and Spence. I bet any money that if Jermell has a good outing Spence bypasses 147 entirely.
He’ll also have a sizeable length/reach advantage which is the most significant advantage you can have in boxing besides being flat out better. Longer, faster, more stamina (I’m assuming), with a negligible weight discrepancy between both fighter’s. No reason Jermell can’t win, except if he’s not good/smart enough.
Jermell hasnt fought anyone remotely close to Canelo's talent level but it remains to be seen if Canelos body hasnt begun givig up on him (even worse stamina, slower, and etc.). Expect to see a very disciplined Jermell whose much more of a boxer than we've ever seen imho
Remember- Canelo was a Junior Middleweight once during the time the Charlo's were there and dominant, and Canelo avoided them and moved up. That matters.
i think charlo give alvarez h3ll the guy has skill. it wouldn't surprise me if charlo beats alvarez. though realistically the odds in my head favor canelo by split decision.
Canelo needs an emphatic victory. He's going to be juiced to the gills and ice Jermell. After the fight, Jermall will undoubtedly seek attention on live broadcasts, vowing to avenge lil bros. Meanwhile, Tim Tszyu's relentless cries of "what's my mother f***ing name" will reverberate through Jermall's consciousness, causing him to drown his sorrows in another bottle of Hennessy, sealing the fate of his career in a downward spiral from which there is no return. I still don't like this fight. I'm sure I'll get liquored up and buy it just because, but these huge weight jump bouts are not appealing to me.
