I had Crawford as a close winner of the bout but there were an extraordinarily large amount of close rounds so if you had it close for Madrimov I'm good with that.

The scoring of the fight had a lot to do with what you like. The Uzbek landed some of the best shots of the fight with his overhands to Crawford's mug. For me he didn't do much else. So in a decent amount of the rounds Madrimov landed the most significant punch or two but I gave the round to Crawford based on more punches of some significance.

Scoring is obviously a subjective exercise but I will say I was surprised that some people scored the 12th round for Madrimov. I thought Crawford's performance in the championship rounds made them the two most dominant and easy to score rounds of the fight.

I don't think Crawford's lack of dominance had anything to do with moving up to 154 pounds. It was all related to Madrimov's unusual and effective style. It has been noted, ad nauseum, that Bud takes his time and figures out his opponent before he really turns on the attack. I don't think he was ever able to figure out anything about Madrimov.

As far as fighting at junior middleweight goes, I think Crawford destroys Fundora and Vergil Ortiz, both of whom I like a lot. Tszyu is a very basic fighter as far as skills go but he is extremely strong. Crawford mentioned in the post-fight interview that Israil's strength made the fight difficult. Tszyu's strength and power could really cause Bud some issues.

Good post. I pretty much agree with all of your points.

I was all wrong about this one, big props to Madrimov for fighting tooth and nail with one of the best. Looks like his awkwardness is effective against the upper echelon! (In another post, I mentioned I didn’t feel it would be)

    Agreed.

Apollo Creed would say that Crawford won the fight but he didn't beat Madrimov.

While I scored it 115-113 for Crawford I am old enough that I still believe you have to take the title off the champion.

Well you should. Crawford is now a Jr. Middleweight. And you know how much Fury struggles with midget middleweights.

Crawford gets a lot of flack on here but what he has achieved really is incredible......Should Put the Cue In the Rack now and Retire up there with the All Time Greats.!!!

Crawford did what needed to be done and unquestionably an ATG.

Hope he doesn't make the mistake of fighting Canelo. A weight step too far.

    Nice write up Fogger..
I had it a draw simply because I gave the round 12 to Madrimov live .. if I review and give it to Crawford than Crawford win 7-5 as majority of the people here did.
The result didn’t surprise me. Crawford is good but I never view him as generational talent nor he’s my number one p4p.. he is top 3 for sure. His run at welterweight is good but not great.

Had it a Draw, Bud needs to stay away from Canelo and he’s getting old the slide is starting.

It was a good performance from Crawford fighting a younger bigger man at his age.
I would love to see Crawford fight my man Tim Tszyu I reckon it would be a hell of a fight I think that Tim will engage a lot more than Madrimov did and force the fight and we good see an all time classic.
