Bellew saying if it was all about the money he wouldn't be taking this fight but rather he would've fought say a Dillian Whyte for twice the amount and I'm sure he would've earned more in a fight like that. OK, if it was all about the glory he would've entered the WBSS and won all 4 of those belts the much harder way fighting the likes of Briedis, Gassiev, Dorticos, Huck, Kudryashov, Wlod, Perez and Usyk and having to travel to do so as opposed to winning them all in one fell swoop in your home country where everything is stacked in your favour after Usyk has done all the hard work.
I just watched it and I tallied up 5 mentions of Tony making sure he is getting home safe to his wife and kids. If anyone can find more thn 5 mentions let me know with timestamps. Tony has massive respect for Usyk. He sounded like a school girl with a crush when he said that he "called my name first" after winning the WBSS.
To be fair to Bellend, he earned at least 5 times the total prize money of all cruiserweights for his 2 fights against Haye. Haye was a no brainer to take, especially as he knew that Haye was injured and a low risk fight. This is a fair legacy fight and Usyk is taking the cash out option here too, because he belongs at HW now. Usyk needs to get to HW as he will be a big success there.
He keeps banging on about how it's going to be his last fight whilst swearing blind he's going to win. Hmmm.. but what about the rematch clause?
Yeah I know he earned a king's ransom for the Haye fights and I can understand why he took them. However, I don't believe he ever would've entered the WBSS and fought all those guys and if he did he certainly wouldn't have won it.
I rather doubt it... For example, Adonis Stevenson has expressed a desire to fight Bellew again. Tony can accept that challenge as well.
He also changed his “reason” for not entering WBSS. Initially he explicitly said it was because he had bigger money options (Haye) and now he is claiming he thought the WBSS would turn out like the SMW Super 6, with delays and politics ruining the format. No need to lie Tony, I would have done the exact same thing. I have a feeling this defeat might leave Bellew in a state of depression because it’s going to be a comprehensive schooling and an early finish. No fighter wants to be totally pummelled in their last fight. I’m not convinced he’ll retire after this.
I think Bellew is pretty underrated but it’s the constant **** that comes out of his mouth why I can’t take to him. Always going on about how dangerous his job is risking his life ‘being punched in the face’ like millions of blokes round the world don’t go out to work everyday and do dangerous jobs but not get paid millions to do it. He’s just a massive drama queen with everything that comes out his mouth.
Looks like a promo for a new marvel movie. Fun fact, between them they have a full face. Make a good kids game.
Bellew was pooing himself. Constant fidgeting throughout the whole thing. It's started to dawn on him that he is fighting someone light years better than anyone he's ever been in with before.
