Yes he did - the rules are very clear on this point "The bell will not save a boxer in any round of the bout". He was only allowed to continue because of that bell. If you agree to that he was not able to continue you have to agree to that he was saved by the bell. The fight should have been waved off - no doubt about it.

Andrade half way across the ring at 1: 24.

    [yt]66CO0lksoEo&feature=related[/yt]

    Rule No. 4:

"4. When a contestant has been knocked down, the referee will order the standing contestant to the farthest neutral corner and begin the count. If the contestant standing leaves the corner before the count has been completed, the referee shall discontinue the count and order the standing contestant back into the corner. The count will not resume until the standing contestant has returned to the neutral corner."

What bell, dude? The bell didn't ring at all because the timekeeper didn't know the rules! The bell only rang after the full count, after the referee checked whether he was willing to fight on, after he cleaned his gloves, after the fight was restarted...a long time after it should have rang, according to Rule No. 6:

"6. The bell will not save a boxer in any round of the bout. If a boxer is "downed" just before the 3-minute bell in any round, the referee's count shall continue and the bell will not ring until the boxer rises and his hands clear the floor."

Reading the rules is exactly what I've done. You say that there is no rule that says that you have to be able to continue fighting for the bell to ring. And again - yes there is and you just posted it but apparently didn't read it. "The bell will not save a boxer in any round of the bout". Don't we agree on, that a fighter should not be allowed to continue fighting if he is in no shape to do so? If yes - then he was saved by the bell. It's logic for KFChickens.

So you think it was a correct decision to let Bute continue. You think he was in a state to defend himself? Come on.....

Have to say I'm tired of people incorrectly citing the rule that you "can't be saved by the bell." That rule actually has a meaning to it and it's constantly misused.

If a fighter goes down with less that 10 seconds in the round, the fighter cannot be saved from a KO by the end of the fight. What happens in these cases is that the fight clock stops and the KO clock begins. To avoid a KO, the fighter must get to his feet before the count of ten, with his gloves clearing the canvas. That's the rule and that's the only rule.

Any other comments about what the boxer needs to do are fabrications of convenience. He simply must get up before the count of 10. If he succeeds, he avoids the KO. If not, he's a KO victim.

It's not that hard to get. And Bute did his part.

Man..you dont want to understand. HE WASNT SAVED BY THE BELL.
"The bell will not save a boxer in any round of the bout" Does that mean to you that the fight has to go on?? So he wont be saved by the bell??:nut

Being save by the bell means no count needed. The ref doesn't need to count since you are saved by the bell. DO you understand now?? This time, the ref COUNTED. SO Bute WAS NOT saved by the bell. Do you understand? No and probably never will.

No offense, Thunder, but that´s what I've written 3 times now - according to the rules, which Decebel have copy/pasted by the way, you can not be saved by the bell - and that is exactly what you say Bute was - saved by the bell.

Right, so you don't know what being saved by the bell means, even though I've explained it in my last post. Let me try again:

Bute would have been saved by the bell if things had happened like this:

Bute goes down with 2 seconds on the clock. The referee starts his count. When he gets to 2, the bell rings. Bute is on the floor. The referee stops counting because the bell ringed. Bute can get up in his own time. If the bell hadn't ringed and the referee had not stopped counting, Bute wouldn't have been able to beat the 10 count and he'd have been counted out. But because the bell ringed and the referee stopped counting, Bute didn't have to beat the count, so he was saved by the bell!

But Bute wasn't saved by the bell! The bell didn't ring at the end of the round. It didn't even ring when it was supposed to ring: when Bute was rising with his hands clear of the floor, according to rule No. 6 which you didn't read!

Here is is again; maybe you will read it this time:

"6. The bell will not save a boxer in any round of the bout. If a boxer is "downed" just before the 3-minute bell in any round, the referee's count shall continue and the bell will not ring until the boxer rises and his hands clear the floor."

The bell only rang much later, when the fight had been over for many seconds! Bute didn't get saved by the bell. He had to beat the count to not be KOed!!! If he had been saved by the bell, he wouldn't have had to get up from the Knock Down because the knock down occured 2 seconds before the end of the round, in the final round! But because he wasn't allowed to be saved by the bell, he HAD to get up AFTER the three minute period, in order to beat the count! And he DID beat the count; he got up within 8 seconds of getting knocked out!
