i think bute-kessler would be a great matchup but you cant compare this fight like that. boxing doesnt work that way.
His corner team did not told Bute to go in there to fight the championship. That's a misunderstanding comming from the translation. Bute's corner is very competent and I can garantee you that Had Kessler had them in his corner when he fought Calzaghe, he would have received better advise then : "Hit him more".
@1:55 [yt]V1bEMRVeWNQ[/yt] Andrade's face after Kessler: fresh as a daisy Andrade's face after Bute: see the video above :good
He didn't tried to box with Bute... Bute moved well and has the faster hands so that most of the time there was nothing to hit for Andrade. So to you, Bute deserve no credit at all ? It's Andrade who fought the wrong fight, Andrade who waited to long, the ref who protected Bute and the ref who screwed Andrade over. Well thanks for your enlightment. And here I was thinking Bute was a legitimate top 5 at 168. :nut
i don't mean to hate on Kessler cause i am a big fan and his performance against Andrade was better than Bute's, but Andrade has clearly improved under Howard Grant. Clear as day. He hasn't changed his style, he has added to it.
I am not comparing Kessler from the basis of this fight - please read what is being discussed. The question was: Which fight was the toughest on Andrade. That is an easy answer. And no, Bute-Kessler would not be a great matchup. I think Bute is stronger than Kessler really, but that is about it. Kessler is head and shoulders above Bute. And it will be an easy victory for the dane.
He has tried to make him into a boxer, but it was a bad call for this fight. It made Andrade more cautious. Normally I am all for turning a crude boxer into a better boxer, but for this match it was a bad call. Had he fought like he did against Kessler, he would have won, simply because Bute is very uncomfortable with that kind of pressure. But I don't really think that Andrade had improved alot - he was still crude, and trying to box with someone who is technically superior is a bad call.
Andrade didn't try to box on the outside.. Bute didn't let the pressure get to him. Had Andrade's boxing skills and pressure skills not been improved, he would have done even worse. The best pressure fighters in the world have good boxing skills compared to Andrade, especially Andrade from the KEssler fight
I agree with you on all points, to an extent. Still, don't forget that mainly the reason Andrade couldn't do much against Bute is not because he didn't try, but because Bute didn't let him.
Let's say you're right. Still it would be funnier to watch than Haussler or Sartison, who are under his knees. no?
I have already given Bute credit for negating Andrade when he did plummel forward. Bute had done his homework, and i have already stated that Bute was at a disadvantage due to entangibles. Andrade is really a bad boxer for him, but Bute did great to not let it come to that also. However, unless Bute works on his problem, with being SO vulnerable to pressure fighters, he will not be in top rank for long. And that is sad, because he masters so many other aspects.
Sure. Well, I thought that Sartison was a tough cookie, and a better than I had expected, but yes, Haussler and the like doesn't belong in a ring with Kessler. It was a disgrace, but no one but Sauerland were happy about that fight. Palle was furious and have been for a long time. I am pretty sure that Sartison will give any other top rank their run for the money, though. Look out for him in the future. Both Sartison and Haussler were not prefered opponents, but WBA sets the rules, not Kessler.
It was both. Andrade tried, and Bute fended off most - very cleverly. Some slipped, and Bute was instantly hurt. However, Andrade didn't pressure every second for 12 rounds - like he did against Kessler. And it was really the constant pressure I thought would be too much for Bute, not that once he was pressured he would be hurt.
