Nobody gives a **** though! Even though they're much better fighters! Because they're not heavyweights!

Well during the 10 or so years that those guys were at or near the top, there were pretty much zero fighters in their weight division who anybody has ever heard of outside of real hardcore boxing fans. A move up one division could have afforded either opportunities to get on the radar of people outside of their home countries — not saying they should have done it, but it would have raised their profiles even if they had lost but given a good account and moved back down.

And of course right as Uchiyama was on his way out Loma shows up and they just missed each other.

Well, it was two guys, one still dangerous (Chuvalo), and the other many years over the hill (Williams). Actually, the first five rounds were fairly good, both hitting each other with good shots, and both hurt, but the bursts of action were inconsistent. The last five rounds were slow though.

Chuvalo was past his prime too!
Their primes were late 50s early 60s and both were old and washed contenders!Chuvalo was very bad in late 60s where he was no more good fighter due to his overweight and lack of training!
If they fought in 1963 the result would be the same and I think that Chuvalo would do even better than this!

Williams had been boxing for 20 years compared to Chuvalo's 15.

    Williams was 38 to Chuvalo's 34.

Williams had lost 6 of his last 11.

Williams had 90 bouts under his belt, Chuvalo 82.

Chuvalo was rated in the top 10, Williams hadn't been for 5 years plus.

Oh and Williams had gotten shot 7 years earlier, died 6 times on the operating table, withered down to 150 pounds, and was a shell of himself when he returned.

I know bashing Cleveland Williams is a favorite past time, but let's not pretend they were in comparable stages of their career.

Chuvalo may have been out of his prime, but he wasn't washed up yet, he looked good in his late 60s bouts with Mathis and Quarry and in his bouts with Ellis and Ali in the 70s.

Lol. Listen to this guy everybody. Chuvalo was not in the condition Williams was by any means. Afterall, earlier that year, he gave one of the best heavyweights in the world (Ellis) one of his toughest fights, and after this fight gave the Greatest a tough fight. I wouldn't call that a washed-up guy.

But yeah a fight with a prime Williams against Chuvalo would've paved out the same way except Williams would've done even worse lol

No actually, In his barnburner with Liston, the commentator states (around the 2:54 mark) that despite his powerful left, Williams is not a converted southpaw.
