Finally did research on Roy Jones. He actually did avoid most of the top MW-SMW.

This thread is getting all too tame and becoming more of a social.

    He'll be crushed.

He'll be feeling worse than what Roy did after Lebedev knocked him out.

I think you're right, but I wouldn't have ruled out a tear up at some point.

I wasn't aware that Dariusz and Ottke considered fighting each other.

Didn't Dariusz and Roch consider a 3rd fight as well?

    Most definitely.

    Okay, we'll spice it up.

I'll have a huge amount of respect for you if you admit that you exaggerated when you said that Tiozzo, Roch and Maske etc, were all levels above Tarver and Dawson.

Also, if you admit that Roy's best wins at LHW, were better than Tiozzo's win over a faded Dariusz.

I'll bite... It is a good thing faded Enzo caught the shot to death 46 year old glass chinned walking punching bag that is now Roy Jones..

They were on different levels at their best though. We both know this.

I've always liked Enzo. He seems an honest guy. He's had a lot of ups and downs in his career, but he's always been highly entertaining. He was a fan of Roy's too. He says one of his favourite wins was the Griffin rematch.

The first Griffin fight is one of my favorite RJJ fights. I think Griffin really exposed something in Roy that fight. I've never seen a fighter more scared than RJJ was early in that fight. He just couldn't fight like he wanted to and he was shaking like a leaf with fear. I remember thinking, if he fights someone very skilled with power, he is getting knocked out, I don't care how hyped he is. I admit I never imagined that RJJ would then go on to get KO/TKO'ed so often and by so many. But that was the first fight where I saw an almost Wlad quality to RJJ. If he couldn't get his game going, if he wasn't allowed to do that, he was left with very little resources to protect fragile glass. It was just a matter of time.

    Interesting:

Should Roy have fought more elite fighters to prove his true worth?

    Yes: 82
    No: 26

Honestly I thought it would be a little closer.

wow--I need to go back and watch that fight--not sure I remember it quite the same way--and he clearly made a statement in the rematch and did not fight at all like someone who would be "shaking like a leaf with fear"

Enzo has been beaten inside the distance more times than Roy and Roy went into the 10th with top CW Lebedev, so lets not make out Enzo was more fresh than Roy here. I think it was Enzos greater CW pedigree that was the difference and expect prime Roy would have been no different if facing prime Enzo.
