Finally did research on Roy Jones. He actually did avoid most of the top MW-SMW.

I think the version of Roy that beat Ruiz had the potential to be a top CW.

He obviously would have lost to a few of the top HW fighters at the time.

Vitali, Lewis, Tua, Wlad, Sanders to name a few that would have been too big and strong...

Byrd would have been interesting 50-50 fight for me.

I would actually pick Roy over Holyfield and possibly Tyson at the time being way past their best years.

Around that time I would have been intrigued to see how a fight between himself and CW champ Gomez would have gone, but I think Gomez would have been too big.
People try and make out that toney dominated the top CW in Jirov and forget that there was Gomez around.

Amusingly I just tried to look up on boxrec the yearly ratings and couldnt find it, but looked at the top CWs ever and they have the top CW as Jones Jnr, rated at CW above Nelson, Bell, Norris, Gomez all of them, so Enzo beat the best CW ever :good

Hahaha. I remember looking at the LHW ratings where I figured Roy would be somewhere and couldn't find him.

It must be because he is the greatest CW of all time..well obviously second to Enzo Mac. Lol

Ok here is one example of the distance between Roy and the rest.

Sugar boy Malinga gave Benn and Eubank fits , yet was wiped out in 6 by Roy.

No matter who he fought nobody would have given him a fight he was that good.

The best fighter I have ever seen.

Boxrec must count Roy's overall body work and rate him as a CW because he is actively fighting there.

Not to mention in all fairness I feel Malinga was a little faded against Roy.
