Billy Conn had great hand speed and great footwork he got around very easy and he would throw combos moving forward or backwards. He dominated easy. But in the 13th round Billy dropped his hands and Louis through a right hand that was on the quickest punches I have ever seen it just shook Conn. Then Joe start throwing combos and attacking Conn the final combo he hit Billy with it was Beautiful. But it was sad to see how Billy Dominated for all those rounds and came up short. People should check this Fight out. I think the fight with Americans calling it is gone. I know ESPN Classic has it. I had to watch the fight with a British commentator.
I absolutely loved this fight. Conn was even showing Schmeling a thing or two on how to deal with Louis, and thats saying something. The common word is that Conn wanted to prove a point by knocking Joe Louis out (Had he done that, he would have been one of the greats) But he underestimated Louis and overestimated himself. IMO it is one of the dumbest decisions in boxing history, to try and trade with the Brown Bomber.
Today conn would be the undisputed Super middleweight champion and Light Heavyweight champion. I think crusier to.
