Cotto is my favorite active fighter, but I think Martinez puts a hurt on him, possibly stopping him late. I know Martinez did not look his best last fight, but if he has any of the movement, speed and power he once had, Cotto will not be able to cope. If Cotto wins, expect a rematch with Floyd for the Middleweight title.

The difference is that although Chavez was bigger than Martinez, there was a massive gulf in skill that Chavez couldn't bridge with his size advantage. There isn't a the same gulf in skill between Martinez and Cotto but there is still a big size difference.

I'm excited about this fight. Cotto is one of my favorite fighters. I do think him moving up so soon is a mistake, but we know Cotto is coming to fight either way. To win this fight he has to apply smart pressure on Martinez like know one has before. Cotto can box, but against someone as mobile as Martinez that would not be the wise fight for him. Attacking Martinez body early would be his best tactic in winning this fight. Forget the head, destroy the body.

I wish Martinez had the balls of Cotto and fight GGG instead.

This fight is a cash out fight for Martinez. Cotto is too small for 160, but here's to hoping Martinez has declined enough for Cotto to knock him out. This is nothing but a cherry pick for Martinez and I hope it goes all wrong for him.

He should be fighting GGG instead, not a guy who is suited for 147 lbs.

That's why he couldn't make 144 against a guy coming up 2 divisions, right?

When is the last time Cotto destroyed a world class fighter's body? You have to almost go back 7 years to the Judah fight. Yuri Foreman if you want to be generous.

If Martinez is anything more than a shell of his former self, he should push Cotto's isht in.

are you trying to put dr in the same sentence as kikrland, canelo and andrade?

he didnt fight canelo because he knows hes going to get his ass kicked.

with an injured sergio he has a chance to be competitive and then fight canelo

with an 80 percent sergio that fought chavez hes going to get beaten down so he hoping he gets a 50-60 percent martinez

do you even understand boxing and finances of boxing?

do you even understand what you posted?

Cotto will school him. The size...height and reach...is a little worrisome but cotto is very fundamentally sound and Sergio is just athletic. Once the athleticism falls off a little Sergio declines quickly. I think it's safe to say that Sergio will be diminished. Long lay off, injuries, surgeries, almost 40...the day I pick a 39 yo guy with limited skills, no fundamentals (as in keeping your Hands up!!), who is coming off a long lay off and knee surgeries over a 100% Miguel cotto is the day I die. Now maybe cotto isn't 100% in comparison to his prime but I think he's close enough and I think that even if he wasn't Sergio is far enough removed from his to make up the difference. Cotto by UD.

Cotto will school him?! Pac stopped Cotto!!! The only reason Cotto is fighting Martinez is that fact that he is hoping that Martinez will be in bad shape from all the injuries he has had....................Cotto would not even consider Golovkin....................I don't blame him as Golovkin woull knock him out cold!!!

The question is that how much Martinez still has in his tank.

I agree with some posters that an 80% Sergio vs Chavez will KTFO Cotto.

Too bad, Cotto is one of my fave.

During Floyd's stint in the WWE, when he fought the Big Show, he weighed in at 159lbs. That was the longest inactivity streak of his career, and he still didn't weigh over 160lbs. He is a naturally small guy.
135lbs is definitely a stretch, but to say that he physically couldn't drain down to it, would be very uncertain. But he could absolultey make 140lbs the night before the fight still. Even for his WW fights, he normally weighs 145/146. You don't think he could shed 6lbs of water weight?? Please. Be smart :deal

I don't know why he didn't make 144. Probably because he didn't want to be bothered with weight at all. But he weighed 146 for Guerrero, NOT 147. Which tells me, that he didn't have to cut water weight for it. Because cutting water weight is a science, and with as much money as Floyd has, he would hire the right people so that he didn't have to cut an oz more than he had to.

Do you know how weight cutting works? Do you know some college wrestlers/UFC fighters, even boxers cut up to 20lbs, then rehydrate the night before the fight? Floyd doesn't do this, because he doesn't have to. But he absolutely could do it if he wanted to. :deal

    No, you just did.
He didn't fight Canelo because he wants to win the lineal Middleweight crown and make history.
Sergio isn't going to fight injured. Its stupid to assume he will be. By 'competitive' you mean losing and if he loses bad its unlikely to bag him a huge PPV fight.
I know fighting Canelo was going to earn him 10 million. If you're the expert on boxing finances- you explain it instead of running your mouth piece.

Cotto wants to break records here and you stepped up like Charlie Bronson and tried to dispute that fact.
