Finally saw Marquez/Pacquiao II

My thoughts

1. Manny Steward needs to be fired. He kept dick riding Pac even when Pac wasn't doing anything. He also kept raving about Pac's right hand in the beginning of the fight, even though Pac was pretty much ineffective with his right hand the entire fight

2. Not a bad job by Lederman, I didn't agree with him, but he wasn't bad

3. I scored the fight 114-113 Marquez. However, I don't think there was a robbery. IMO, the key round was round 1. I thought this was the closest round and could've gone either way. If you scored it for Pac, he wins. If you scored it for Marquez, he wins.

4. Tough loss for Marquez. He was winning round 3 until he ran into that left hook. It was at the end of the round too. Had he not made tha mistake, he would still be champ right now.

5. Both fighters amazed me. Marquez is a great technical fighter. He was killing Manny with left hooks to the dome and body, he was also painting him with right hands. He showed some good footwork in there as well. Great job by the old man. His downfall, was his inability to avoid Pac's left hands. Otherwise, he was totatlly outclassing Pac. He was keeping Pac at range, he was able to back Pac up at times, and he was also able to effectively counter Pac when Pac decided to let his hands go.

Pac amazed me by being able to win this fight desite the fact that he was at a stylistic disadvantage, and despite the fact that he was relatively ineffective with the right hand, and kept relying on the same combo over and over again. No way Pac should ever beat a guy like Marquez. However, he was somehow able to pull it off. His defense looks improved, and he doesn't get as far out of position as he used to.

6. Overall, this was a great fight. Both guys showed alot of heart and determination. I hope there is a third fight within the next year or so.
