Yes, the hype was justified. I had the privilege of seeing it in HD, but for those who didn't get a chance to either record it or watch live, here it is: [yt]ZNPDaagL19k[/yt] [yt]gJ8b8m5Bt7E&NR=1[/yt] It was reminiscent of the FNF war between Ramsey Luna and Rene Luna several weeks back...two guys way too early in their career to be sweating like this letting it all hang out. [yt]oRa0oM8Vqg0[/yt] [yt]ykMjZUPklDs&NR=1[/yt] [yt]B01hYRMQADo[/yt] It isn't often that four-rounders get consideration as FOTY or even top-ten candidates...but these should both wind up somewhere in the top ten unless the second half of 2010 has a lot of pleasant surprises in store.
Damn you ingrates (whoever hasn't seen one or both of these). People were hyperventilating over these wars the nights they happened...both completely overshadowed the main events they were supporting. They're FOUR rounds each. Take the time to watch and share your thoughts, assholes. You won't regret it. :yep
I made a thread about Okada/Arroyo. It didn't get a lot of play. That made me wonder about the "boxing fans" around here. Amazing fight from two great kids.
So, what did you think? You didn't vote... Also, it was surprising to see that anybody had voted "Neither is really my cup of tea" until you look at who it was: Jacory Harris :yep
I liked Luna-Luna better (although Arroyo-Okada was at a much higher skill level), but it's interesting that two walk-off bouts within a month of each other both ended up stealing the show. My FOTY so far was another one kind of like that. Daniel Estrada vs. Angel Alirio Rivero. It was on the split-site Mayol-Nino I / Vazquez-Sonsona undercard. Only got played because the Puerto Rican side of the card ended early. Ended up being a crazy war between a supposed prospect and a journeyman who just didn't know how to quit throwing punches. Ten rounds though. Just a damn shame that the fight got stopped in the 10th though. The ref should have let Rivero go through until his inevitable robbery loss.
yep great lil fights.i think mcjoe team really dropped the ball on this one.okoda has a good am background and had being putting in quality gym work, bad match up for the rican prospect after fighting about two weeks before.im not complaining but it was a dumb move on their part.also mcjoe and mcwillaims are dumb names
dont be discouraged, these are great threads even if they don't get a lot of play. Okada / Arroyo was great I watched it live. I will have to check out the other one.
Lunax2 was some caveman ****. Found it to be highly entertaining for two guys with so little pro experience.
Understatement of the year. I guess being a slow windmill is not as bad as being the guy in the skirt that can't put the slow windmill away..... :think But more to point on the thread. Smaller guys knowing they only have to go four rounds is going to be a much different fight than bigger guys carrying their weight around for 10/12. Seriously though, it irritates me a bit to watch someone that cannot take advantage of such obvious faults... (if I can see them, I consider them obvious)
